This cosplay of Hoshimi Miyabi from Section 6 took over a month from pattern drafting to finalizing the physical props. The core styling centers on a techwear trench coat color-blocked in cyan and beige, worn over a classic white collared shirt and a slender black necktie. The outerwear is packed with intricate detailing—such as the inverted white triangle insignia on the left sleeve and the H.A.D. ID badge suspended over the chest; to honor these visual signatures, proportions and sizing were fine-tuned repeatedly during pattern cutting, while deliberately preserving a relaxed, oversized silhouette around the sleeves. The lower body features a high-waisted black pleated skirt overlaid with a leather tactical harness and utility pouches, finished with a golden tassel knot dangling at the hip. Beneath the hemline, fitted black pantyhose (Black stockings) were paired with chunky black ankle boots accented by metallic buckles. The entire ensemble offers rich visual layering, where the hybrid of utilitarian techwear and academy aesthetics defines the character's signature presence.

The weaponry prop was the crowning centerpiece of this photoshoot—the mechanical tachi spans nearly 1.2 meters in total length. The hilt is bound with anti-slip grip wrapping, while the tsuba guard is embellished with orange rectangular accents and exposed mechanical joints, complemented by geometric block details along the scabbard. To alleviate the physical strain of holding it for extended periods, the interior was crafted with lightweight reinforcement. Because the prop carried noticeable heft, hand placements had to be recalibrated constantly—especially for the dynamic high-kick frame, which demanded strict core engagement to balance while keeping the blade horizontal and rock-steady. When executing one-handed horizontal draws or resting grounded on the blade, the load fell squarely across the webbing between thumb and index finger, though the grip friction of the gloves held up quite nicely.

In terms of hair and makeup, the wig was trimmed with blunt bangs and sharp sideburns, while the black beast ears at the crown were anchored with hairpins and clear monofilament wire to ensure they wouldn't wobble during dynamic motion. Crimson contact lenses and reddish tones swept around the eye sockets formed the visual anchor of the makeup; matte earth tones served as the eyeshadow base, deepened at the outer corners to pair with the red lenses, forging an icy, sharp, and focused gaze. The studio shoot took place against a seamless pure white backdrop, lit primarily with an overhead top light blended with side-rim backlight. This not only ensured crisp facial definition, but also beautifully highlighted the technical texture of the cyan coat and the sleek contours of the Black stockings.

The posing choreography drew direct inspiration from the character's canonical combat habits. Beyond the standard forward-facing neutral stance with the drawn blade, we explored kinetic combat-ready postures—such as lifting one leg with both hands on the hilt preparing to strike, as well as angled horizontal sheath holds. The frontal stance emphasized the tailored silhouette and leg contours, while the kinetic poses projected her battle-ready tension. Given the length of the tactical belt and skirt hemline, dynamic moves required constant mindfulness against accidental exposure and awkward clipping, necessitating steady communication with the photographer regarding framing and edge crops. Overall, the fidelity of the wardrobe and props alongside the photographic clarity fully realized my original vision for this shoot.
