Today I am sharing a set of photos featuring a fan-made design look of Reimu Hakurei completed in a Japanese-style washitsu room.

For this shoot, a large area of blue and white color scheme was intentionally selected as the main tone of the costume, paired with the iconic massive ruffled bow and dramatic wide sleeves. The yellow bow on the chest and the heavy lace pleats at the waist add extra layers. The texture handling of the entire outfit is very delicate, with smooth fabric alternating with stiff lace, giving the silhouette of the shrine maiden uniform a sense of breathing room. The feet are paired with geta clogs and white short socks, retaining the charm of traditional Japanese style.

The shooting scene is decorated with shoji sliding doors, a red wooden veranda, paper fans, and wooden lanterns emitting a warm glow, combining with the pink flower trees and white gravel in the background to create a twilight courtyard atmosphere. In terms of props, the red Shinto talismans and the long black staff serve as the finishing touches, used to balance the composition of the frames.

Since I am doing a fan-made design version this time, I tried to differentiate my demeanor from the strict and meticulous nature of the original version, bringing a touch of playfulness and mystery—such as the chin-resting posture in the picture, hoping to give the frame more narrative depth.

For photo editing, I used PixCake to assist with post-processing. This software is indeed highly effortless when handling complex wrinkles and tulle fabrics, especially for this kind of horizontally expanding, intricate skirt hem, beautifully restoring the softness without losing the original texture of the fabric. The skin tone processing and catchlight reinforcement are also spot-on, making the overall atmosphere of the work clearer and more delicate. PixCake precisely preserves the vibe during 2D Cosplay photography, significantly boosting post-processing efficiency.

Although it is a fan-made design, I hope to showcase the quiet yet mysterious side of this character through this highly completed set of costumes and props combined with the finely edited final photos. Walking through wooden verandas and paper sliding doors has always been a way of presenting Touhou elements that I love deeply.
