[Kal'tsit cosplay] Arknights CP32 Convention photos, Mechanical Animal Ears Under the Blazing Sun

The outdoor sunlight at CP32 fell obliquely across the off-white concrete wall, and using the remaining top light before wrapping up, we quickly finished shooting these Convention photos. Honestly, wearing this Techwear outfit loaded with straps and buckles while carrying a giant pole prop under the blazing sun was quite an intense physical workout.

This time, I prepared Kal'tsit from Arknights. The character's cool and composed demeanor fit remarkably well into this outdoor setting. The most effort-intensive part during prep was managing the wig—the white-and-green gradient hair required pre-trimmed layering to achieve a slightly fluffy yet non-greasy texture. The custom animal ears headband had a sturdy internal frame and plush fabric, but to keep the wig and Animal ears cosplay look from appearing disconnected, I tested various angles for securing the wig cap and hairpieces.

The costume abandoned complex skirts in favor of a highly layered Techwear outfit. The blue-and-green color-blocked fitted top featured three-dimensional panel tailoring, with extra padding in the chest armor area to make the silhouette more upright. An irregular white high neck and asymmetric sleeve covers added visual focus, while the black leather belt and metal buckles served as finishing touches—cinching the waistline and breaking up monochromatic monotony.

The most challenging part was carrying the giant pole prop on my back. Although lightweighted for outdoor shooting, its nearly 1.4-meter length, complex black-yellow-white structural components, and edge decorations required core strength to maintain a stable pose under the scorching sun. The lacquer finish on the prop had a nice sheen under bright light, reflecting the unique texture of morning sunlight.

For framing and composition, we deliberately chose this light gray high wall featuring natural cracks and mottled marks. The direct outdoor light was very sharp, casting crisp diagonal shadows on the wall—a high-contrast lighting condition that perfectly highlighted the clash of clothing textures. The roughness of the concrete wall, skin texture, and subtle fabric reflections created a wonderful, hardcore industrial aesthetic.

During the shoot, I felt quite a bit of emotion. Not far behind me were passing crowds and bustling convention aisles, requiring me to quickly detach from the noise and focus on my state in front of the lens. Although outdoor convention lighting requires frequent makeup touch-ups, the resulting vitality is often far more natural and vivid than in a studio. Whether it was the halo of light overhead or the drain grates with warning stripes on the ground, everything contributed to a unique on-site vibe. I hope this photo set conveys the character's restrained, calm, and powerful essence.
