[Kal'tsit Cosplay] An Arknights IF-line: Kal'tsit with a Gun is Remarkably Cool

Shooting this IF-line of Kal'tsit holding a gun was truly a wonderful experience. I have always felt that if she grasped modern firearms, the superposition of that sense of contrast and professionalism would be extremely charming. Although this setup is a bit of personal indulgence outside the official lore—creating a serious yet slightly tactical style IF scenario that might feel a bit OOC (out of character) to some Doctors—it is precisely because of this that the set of photos expresses my inner contemplation of another possibility for the character. Thus, on the day of the shoot, I arranged all these little ideas at once.

First, regarding the clothing details, this specific outfit has a very rich sense of layering. The outerwear with white and light yellow-green color-blocking is stacked with a white long coat that has an excellent drape, making the overall look appear very lightweight. The black collar worn around the neck, combined with the translucent plastic material on the arms paired with black straps, and the black thigh rings, these accessories pulled up the character's inherent cold and rigid temperament. Especially this silver-white long hair, combined with the black beast ears on the top of the head, ensures that even when holding a real piece of hardware, the image still retains the character's original refinement. The black thick-soled ankle boots under the feet are embellished with a splash of bright yellow; this small collision keeps the overall tone from being too dull, adding a flavor of street tactical style. The black prop gun in hand was also prepared in advance, and to pursue a realistic grip feel, it underwent some processing.

For the location of this shoot, I specially selected an industrial style scene. That kind of gray-white concrete platform, along with the blurred orange-red steel frames and iron wire mesh in the distance, just happened to form an ingenious collision with the cool-toned model and bright-colored clothing. The outdoor diffuse light photographed very softly, requiring no overly strong lighting setup; merely by leveraging the natural light of a cloudy day, the texture of the costume and that chilling, murderous atmosphere within ruins or industrial zones could be brought to a crescendo. To showcase different facets of the character, I tried several postures during the shoot. One set involved sitting on the steps, leaning against the platform behind me with the gun resting by my side; I personally love that sense of being relaxed yet carrying vigilance. Meanwhile, to highlight Kal'tsit's sharp aura, I made a few crouching and looking-back movements the core of the main composition. Particularly in those frames pointing the gun straight at the lens, the camera positioning was just perfect; the mechanical feel of the firearm and the oppression of the character looking coldly at the lens just filled the tension of 'a professional medical consultant transforming into a tactical executor' to the absolute brim.

The shoulder strap design of the clothes actually tests the dynamic tension of movements heavily, especially the translucent arm sleeve portion. Combined with the tailoring of the sleeves and short skirt, when striking a posture of raising a gun sideways or crouching while holding a gun, the lines become much more beautiful than when standing at attention normally. During the shoot, I also paid great attention to expression management, not intentionally laughing or creating a lively vibe. After all, Kal'tsit's character keynote is that of steady, rational, and even slightly detached calmness outside of emotions; even in an IF-line holding a gun, this spirit must be firmly anchored.

Having shot this set of photos, I also gained a deeper understanding of the character. The sentence in the post truly brings more and more realization the more I think about it: 'The more powerful it is, the more fragile it is. This is the truth of all things.' The strength Kal'tsit displays in the game fits this philosophy beautifully. Therefore, in front of the lens, I did not blindly strike that absolute coldness, but let my gaze carry a bit of helplessness, weariness, or a serenity after seeing through things. This sense of contrast, compared to a pure display of force, is what I feel is far more worth capturing.

In terms of post-processing, I did not do excessive rendering, mainly adjusting a slightly gray-cool cinematic color tone to retain the texture of the background industrial elements. Instead of using a large aperture to completely blur out the background, I allowed the environment to participate in the narrative. This recorded realism, compared to studio shoots, might possess more of that atmosphere following a doomsday or an urban battle. This photo set took quite a bit of thought from early planning, costumes, and props to shooting and post-processing. Being able to present this final effect leaves me very satisfied. I hope this small fragment carrying a bit of personal understanding can bring everyone a slightly different character experience.
