This set of Wuthering Waves Hsin anime cosplay photos was shot on a sunny afternoon. For this Hsin styling, I prepared for a long time in advance, especially the texture of this outfit; after receiving it, it was even more exquisite than I imagined.
Let's talk about the details of the clothing first. The entire outfit is based on black and white, layered with a large amount of red light gauze and satin on the outside. The pink-purple gemstone with a golden cutout border on the chest is the visual center of the entire upper body, matched with a black textured strapless top, which has a great reflective effect under the lens. The shoulders are specially made with fluffy-edged sleeve covers, plus the red fabric on the arms, creating a conflicting feeling of being fluffy yet lightweight when swaying. The lower body is black shorts, covered with a large area of black-and-white long skirt hems on the outside. When walking, the fabric swings exceptionally nicely, but this also means that the shooting requires very high amplitude in movements.
The wig and styling on top of the head are also key points this time. The long white hair needs to be styled to look fluffy and layered, and the pair of horn stylings on top of the head adorned with golden star elements need to be fixed with many hairpins, with a non-negligible weight. In terms of makeup, to highlight Hsin's agility and a touch of mystery, the eye makeup used a large area of red-orange smudging, matched with red contact lenses and a facial nose stud. Looking at myself in the mirror, I felt that the character's cold yet alluring vibe was gradually emerging.
The shooting location was chosen at an outdoor classical corridor. The red pillars of the building and the geometric hollowed-out wood carvings on top naturally carry a Chinese-style fantasy atmosphere. The sunlight on that day was very strong, with a very high contrast of light and shadow. The photographer is very good at capturing dynamics. To match the flowing feel of this outfit, I tried many large movements, such as the posture in the first photo where one leg is raised and both arms are spread. It looks lightweight, but in reality, the core needs to be tightly tensed to stay stable. The skirt hem and red ribbons fly in the wind and are driven by movements, and every frozen frame tests the coherence of limb control.
During the process of posing, I kept searching for that specific body language belonging to Hsin. Hand movements should be as soft as possible, with fingertips extending outward, and the gaze sometimes looking at the lens and sometimes looking into the distance, expressing the character's interaction with the surrounding environment. Because the skirt hem of the clothing is very long, a slight carelessness would lead to stepping on it, so every time I adjusted my movements, I had to repeatedly communicate with the photographer about camera positions and angles. Shooting in the corridor, sunlight spilled over the ground and us through the gaps of the wood carvings, and the shadows on the ground constantly switched as angles changed. The texture brought by this natural light and shadow is hard to fully replicate in studio photography.
Treating this shoot as an archive of anime cosplay life, the whole process is both a consumption of physical energy and a very immersive role-playing game experience. From wearing those complicated accessories to standing in front of the lens trying to fit the character's temperament, every step requires patience. This Hsin styling achieved the luxurious yet wild beauty I expected from a visual presentation perspective. Thanks to the photographer's lens for recording these dynamic moments.
