From finalizing the makeup to the actual shoot, this Wuthering Waves Iuno cosplay project took roughly three weeks, with the biggest challenge being the circular ring bow. The prop was extremely heavy, and with its center of gravity off-center, holding it with one hand to simulate the tension of drawing a bow relied purely on brute arm strength. To ensure the angle between the bowstring and my arm matched the original artwork, we had to pause every dozen or so shots to relieve arm soreness, catch my breath, and reset the pose.
Regarding the attire, the design of the white strapless bandeau and straps is exceptionally demanding on physique. To keep the fabric from sagging, I used a generous amount of fashion tape and safety pins underneath. The White stockings paired with high heels were a vital element for the overall presentation, yet also the most agonizing part. The tiled floor beneath the water was rock hard; to elongate the visual proportion of the legs, I had to arch my instep tautly, placing continuous pressure on the tips of my toes. Throughout the shoot, I constantly shifted the tension points in my leg muscles to keep the straps from pinching the skin awkwardly.
Setting up the shooting environment was far more intricate than expected. The colossal glowing moon in the background was a projection screen combined with cool-toned lighting effects. The puddles on the ground were intentionally arranged so that the Specular reflection would enhance the sense of spatial depth. To capture the character's cold and crystalline aesthetic, the photographer used numerous cool light sources. The reflectivity of the white reflectors directly affected the exposure of the White stockings; the slightest lapse in control would blow out the highlights and wash away the fabric's delicate texture.
The mirrored puzzle effect in Photo 2 was an intentional post-processing experiment in symmetrical composition, cutting and recombining elements to evoke infinite spatial extension. The original image's cool-toned lighting, paired with extensive Specular reflection, created remarkable visual tension. However, if choosing a cover photo, I would certainly still pick Photo 1. Photo 1 is a candid dynamic capture from the raw shoot—well-composed with the subject dead center. Most importantly, Photo 1 flawlessly showcases the leg silhouette, the texture of the White stockings, and the strap details of the outfit. In terms of commanding attention, Photo 1 offers far greater visual impact than the collage, avoiding distortion and scattered focus.
From a photography perspective, retouching focused primarily on cool alabaster skin tones and blending with ambient light. Maintaining the predominant blue hue, controlling highlights within a comfortable dynamic range, and avoiding exaggerated liquefying ensured the character's presence resonated with the sci-fi tone of Wuthering Waves. The mirror reflections, luminous flora on the ground, and vast starry cosmos behind all served as the crowning touches uniting the practical shoot with post-production.
