Smoothing out the shirt collar, pulling up the grey pleated skirt slightly at the waist, and then following the long lines of the stockings to position the black leather shoes at a natural, crossed angle—this completes the most basic adjustments before the shoot. Putting on this bright blue short-hair wig and using my hands to tug the "ahoge" on top of my head into a nice curve, the focus of this set of school style cosplay photos taken under the afternoon window light is to restore that relaxed and cozy feeling of recess.

To capture this sense of light and shadow, we chose a spot on the corridor near a large wooden-framed window. The afternoon sun was shining obliquely into the room, casting long lines of contrast between light and dark on the wooden floorboards. This high-contrast lighting doesn't actually require much post-processing; it mainly relies on finding the right angle during the shoot. Wearing a white shirt paired with a yellow and blue striped bowtie, against the backdrop of a large area of dark wood-grain walls, the visual focus is naturally guided to the model's head and upper body. The grey tone of the pleated skirt perfectly matches the classic color scheme of school uniforms, and the lines of the skirt hem don't need to be too neat—a slightly casual feel fits the recess setting even better.

During the shooting process, the combination of over-knee socks and the uniform skirt is a very important visual element. In order to present sharp leg lines in the frame, the height of the socks should sit just below the knee, paired with black leather shoes. Putting the center of gravity on the back foot when standing makes one look tall and natural in front of the lens. Standing next to the window, the side light hits the hair to form high-quality rim lighting. Placing a hand in front of the forehead to shield the eyes, or simply leaning against the windowsill, creates a daily look of staring out at the scenery or daydreaming.

This time, I prepared several completely different movements. For instance, shifting the body's center of gravity onto one leg while slightly stepping the other leg forward, gently pulling the hair with a hand, or resting my chin in my hands. These actions, which look like they were made inadvertently, were actually designed in advance and fine-tuned to match the camera's position. This slightly casual posing, compared to a very rigid stance, can better reflect the character's agility, and at the same time, better display the creases of the uniform under different dynamics. Especially when leaning by the window at the end, the light made the white of the uniform and the grey of the pleated skirt look very bright and translucent. Even in the shadow areas, the color of the blue wig still maintained good saturation, indicating that the timing of this lighting was well chosen.

For this school-style outfit, details often determine the accuracy of the overall visual. Not only is there the standard configuration of the bowtie and skirt, but there is also a blue backpack as a styling supplement. The blue backpack echoes the color of the blue wig cosplay, making the tones in the picture more unified. Taking shots in a corridor space that isn't particularly wide actually places high demands on composition; it requires capturing the front highlights while avoiding too many cluttered background elements. Ultimately, what remains in the camera frame is mainly the wooden wainscoting, the large window, the floor, and two hanging paintings on the background wall. This clean and minimalist environment precisely allows the viewer's gaze to concentrate on the character's styling.

Shooting a set of photos with multiple expressions and physical changes like this does require some patience, especially when the afternoon sun is strong and highlights can easily blow out. Therefore, I was constantly fine-tuning my standing position and the angle facing the camera, walking back and forth along the corridor to find the most natural state. The final result came out quite close to what I had initially envisioned, preserving the original freshness of the blue wig and the grey-and-white uniform, and blending beautifully into this afternoon's natural light and shadow atmosphere. The comfort and relaxation of those ten minutes or so during recess are basically conveyed through these few frames.
