This time I tried a casual outdoor shoot for Yanami Anna, and chose a footbridge staircase as the location for this staircase location shoot. The sunlight filtered right through the railings, and the dappled light falling on the pleated skirt felt full of youthful energy.

To make the movements more natural, I prepared a seaweed onigiri and a bento box as props. Although as we kept shooting I couldn't help but actually take a bite of the onigiri, after all, a true foodie's true colors can't be lost! For the costume, I paid close attention to how the ribbon tie was knotted—the blue and yellow color scheme is very eye-catching. There's also her iconic short blue wig; when trimming it, I deliberately kept the length of the air bangs and sidelocks so that when I tilt my head down, they partially cover my eyes, enhancing that lazy and slightly tsundere vibe. The black-and-white loafers paired with black calf socks echoed the gray sailor skirt, making the overall color scheme very refreshing.

During the shoot, the photographer reminded me to vary my angles quite a bit. Sitting on the steps, I tried holding the onigiri with both hands, closing my eyes to say grace with palms together, and reaching out to share food for interaction. The final three photos selected all have a great sense of storytelling. The most interesting part of a location shoot is this kind of moment where your own routine overlaps with the character's 2D daily life. There's no need for forced posing; as long as you go with the sunlight and the breeze at that time, you can capture a very natural state.

Regarding character recreation, I believe that besides having the costume and wig on point, the most important part is capturing the expressions. For example, that satisfied yet slightly proud look when eating food, and a bit of slight bashfulness when facing the lens—all these details bring the character to life. I had a lot of fun shooting this time, and it happened to catch great weather, so it feels like all the hard work paid off.
