Taking advantage of the clear weather before the typhoon, I brought my Sony A7R V to the rooftop for this Yanami Anna cosplay shoot. The recent sea of clouds was perfect for outdoor rooftop portraits, but due to the scorching summer sun and heat, shooting time was precious, making equipment efficiency and stability crucial. The Sony A7R V's 61-megapixel resolution was a lifesaver; despite the strong wind on the rooftop causing the wig and skirt to flutter, I could just click the shutter. The huge room for post-cropping meant I could easily crop out cluttered elements, drastically reducing waste. The camera's 693-point intelligent autofocus system is incredibly reliable; it locked onto the eyes perfectly even during quick turns or when the wig obstructed the face. There was almost no focus-hunting in these rooftop net and stair shots. The built-in Creative Look mode is very practical, especially the PT (Portrait) mode, providing low-contrast and soft skin tones straight out of the camera. The colors were clean and natural against the blue-white uniform and cloudy sky background, saving a lot of time on complex post-processing. Compared to my previous gear, the Sony A7R V offers significant improvements in resolution and image stabilization, and the dual card slot provides extra peace of mind. The 28-70mm F2.0 lens with its large aperture, combined with high resolution, allowed me to easily capture both wide shots and close-ups in this tight rooftop space. The overall experience was reliable, making it perfect for outdoor shoots with short windows of sunlight.
