[Claret cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero combat outfit fitting record - Image 1

Today I tried on Claret's outfit from Zenless Zone Zero. Most of the garment is crafted from glossy leather; the very first impression upon slipping into it was how snugly it hugs the body, though it inevitably imposes some movement restrictions. The cut of the top is remarkably distinctive—a black glossy corset paired with a white lapel collar, featuring cutout lace-up straps around the waist. To recreate the tight, sleek fit of a combat suit, I spent considerable time fine-tuning the tension of the laces underneath, ensuring a snug contour without generating awkward bunching or creases when bending over or holding the prop.

For head styling, the blonde twintails are the absolute soul of the look. To capture an airy volume with flipped-up curved tips, the wig underwent substantial styling and fixation. The two white horn- or animal ear-like headpieces on top require precise placement; otherwise, the visual center of gravity of the entire head easily tilts. For makeup, red contact lenses paired with crimson lips, complemented by a beauty mark near the eye corner and reddish eyeshadow, brought out the fierce, razor-sharp presence of the original design.

The greatest challenge of this styling was undeniably the prop. The long-handled battleaxe in my hand boasts considerable bulk. Featuring a black shaft and an axe head rendered with silver paint and red accents, it possesses substantial physical weight. When taking mirror selfies, I had to hold the phone in my right hand while wielding the weapon with my left. To prevent the weapon from obscuring primary body lines while remaining fully visible within the frame, I repeatedly adjusted my left grip angle and shoulder tension. Facial expression control was equally essential—even when taking casual indoor mirror selfies, staying in character matters; tilting my head slightly down toward the screen while keeping a stoic, cool gaze sold the mood.

The black leather arm sleeves added extra depth, with white folded cuffs and slim red piping enriching the detail. The red-and-black waist belt and silver star ornaments on the lower half are striking. To capture the waist cutouts and armor plates, I adjusted my phone's height—holding it slightly above chest level at a subtle tilt to prevent lens distortion from skewing body proportions. On the wall behind the mirror, I affixed red bat-wing decorative boards; the outfit is already laden with sharp edges and wing motifs, so the red backdrop unified the palette and made the black, white, red, and gold contrast pop vividly.

Leather jacket cosplay pieces require ongoing maintenance: after shooting, wiping the surface with a specialized cloth prevents fingerprints or dust, and metal hardware like the choker and belt stars must be checked for loose fittings. Putting on this intricate suit tests one's patience, but the final visual impact makes it all worthwhile. Today is just a fitting record to share for the Zenless Zone Zero Creator Incentive Program. Suiting up completely let me feel the unique allure of the character design, and I look forward to an outdoor photoshoot where natural light can showcase the leather's genuine sheen.
