The costume and props for this Raiden Shogun cosplay are exceptionally meticulous in detail. The moment I put on the purple gradient wig paired with the authentic accessories, I felt my entire aura transform. This time, we specially chose a Japanese-style dry landscape real-scene studio shooting location. The red pillars, white sand, and the crane screen backdrop, combined with the paper lanterns and cherry blossom branches nearby, perfectly recreate the serenity and majesty of Inazuma. For the first pose of sitting upright holding the sword, maintaining balance on the gravel while wearing geta and holding the scabbard heavily tested my muscle endurance. To achieve a natural look, we repeatedly adjusted the positions of the bamboo hat and the blade, ensuring that the direction of the sword tip and the force exerted by my arm looked authentic and effortless.
Moving on to the second tea-drinking scene, a red-and-black Daruma doll and a complete tea set were deliberately arranged nearby. I wanted to portray a side of the Raiden Shogun letting down her guard, seeking a moment of fleeting peace within eternity. In this scene, holding a tiny ceramic teacup in my hand, complemented by the patterned cushion underneath, made my entire state much more relaxed. While shooting this set, I kept immersing myself in the character's mindset, trying to fathom her loneliness and persistence in the storyline, striving to present an expression that commands awe without anger, yet carries a hint of vulnerability.
The logistics during the shoot were actually quite tedious. Since this outfit has many layers, along with various decorations, my assistant had to carefully smooth out the creases during every scene change to ensure that the hair and hair accessories stayed in place. To recreate the clear skin tone and dimensional facial features characteristic of an Anime cosplay, a large number of reflectors were used on-site for fill light. This was combined with subtle post-processing adjustments for white balance, light, and shadow, without any exaggerated composites. As a cosplayer, finding a photography team with an aligned aesthetic is truly rare. We stayed busy until sunset, and finally utilized natural light to take a few silhouette shots. Throwing myself entirely into recreating a character like this makes all the effort deeply meaningful. The overall atmosphere of the Japanese-style photography session was wonderful, and I hope this photo set showcases the unique coolness and resilience of the Raiden Shogun.
