For shooting this set of Rem cosplay convention photos, we chose an expansive indoor hall toward the rear of the event, where crowds were relatively sparser and rhythmic circular downlights lined the ceiling. Photographer Matcha (@不吃抹茶..) deliberately utilized a telephoto lens with a wide aperture to compress the background, melting the cool-gray overhead lamps into soft, rounded bokeh bubbles so that the pristine white styling popped cleanly against the darkened ambiance. The white lace dress and feathered wings on my back formed the core of this Angel styling; the halo overhead was anchored by delicate craft wire, demanding cautious footwork while walking to avoid dropping it. The black bench added an industrial edge that formed a striking contrast against the soft, ethereal angel motif. Because the skirt is fairly short, stepping atop the bench for poses—especially the straddled stance in Photo 3—required careful vigilance to prevent wardrobe malfunctions, taking numerous angle tweaks to ensure fluid limb extension alongside aesthetic grace.
Overhead convention lighting was intricate and cool-toned, which could easily cause the white fabrics to look muddy gray or pick up a blue cast. The photographer prepped a reflector board to bounce fill light during the shoot, while post-processing prioritized white-balance correction to retain a luminous, clean cool-white grade, subtly vignetting the edges and introducing delicate light flecks to evoke a sacred ambiance. Because the harness straps bore the weight of the wings, they dug in rather painfully over time, and balancing on the hard bench grew uncomfortable; however, seeing the sleek contours and pure, serene tones in the final selects made every trial worthwhile. Convention shooting is always a physically demanding feat—it requires precise mastery over ambient light, dodging background crowds and stray gear, and constantly communicating focus and composition with the photographer. We aimed to strip away rigid, staged stiffness, guiding poses and gazes toward an airy, ethereal poise.
