[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail – May We Meet Again in the Waking Reality

This time, I'd like to share the outdoor record of this Spring Missive cosplay set of Honkai: Star Rail's Firefly completed on a gloomy, rainy day. In order to present the soft yet vibrant breath of daily life of the character in casual attire, we spent a lot of energy during early preparations to adjust the harmony between the JK uniform and the color scheme. The weather on the shooting day was actually very poor, with fine rainy mist constantly floating in the air and a strong wind on the platform, often blowing the wig scattered across both sides of my face, which instead brought out a natural breath of daily life status.

Let's first talk about the management of the makeup and hair. For the wig, I chose a light silver-grey base with a slight mint-cyan gradient at the hair ends, which gives a lightweight and translucent feel from afar. The butterfly-shaped hair accessories on both sides of the top of the head were finely tuned by myself; the patchwork material of cyan-blue and dark grey needed to remain stiff, and I repeatedly experimented for several nights to achieve this effect. In terms of makeup, because the overall tone of the environment was relatively dark and grey, I specially enhanced the saturation of the facial blush. The eyeshadow used a pale pink-purple palette with fine shimmer adorning the center of the eyelids. Combined with light-colored soft sheer contact lenses and a softly extended eyeliner, I hoped to present a clear gaze carrying a touch of innocence.

The details of the costume are equally the focus this time. The top is a pure white short sailor-collar jacket, utilizing a crop-cut design to increase youthful vitality. There is a large cyan-and-yellow plaid bowknot at the neckline; this accessory is highly eye-catching visually, making the large area of white no longer monotonous. There is also exquisite golden petal embroidery on the right cuff, and these detailed embellishments elevate the texture of the entire outfit. The lower body is paired with a short pleated skirt in dark grey-black plaid, which seamlessly connects the top and the skirt hem, elongating the overall body proportions. Wearing white over-knee socks on the legs, with subtle golden four-leaf clover prints on the cuffs, paired with black thick-soled loafers, the whole academy-style combination becomes very complete.

In terms of props, we prepared very thoughtfully. This bouquet I am cradling in my hands consists of blue and white roses and light cyan hydrangeas, wrapped in a layer of beige paper and loosely tied into a bowknot with a matching long satin ribbon. This bouquet paired with this skirt makes the entire color scheme very gentle and harmonious. In image three, I switched to carrying a deep reddish-brown retro leather handbag. That bag is the heaviest color point in the entire outfit, beautifully anchoring the lightweight feel of white on top and grey on the bottom, giving the frame a touch of mature and formal atmosphere.

The shooting process was actually a great test of our mutual understanding. Because the metal platform floor on a rainy day was very slippery, I had to lean slightly against the railing for support while cradling the bouquet with one hand. This small action caused by environmental limitations was instead snapshot by the photographer, becoming the most natural state. In the environment with railway tracks, the blurred train in the background, overhead power lines, and the transparent glass guardrail perfectly matched Firefly's own cool yet warm temperament. The photographer cleverly used a telephoto lens and a large aperture to turn all these complex environmental elements into a soft background blur.

In that photo where I extend my hand toward the camera, I tried to create a sense of invitation and interactivity in the frame. Working with this JK uniform and the retro bag in hand, it feels as if I am just a passerby at this daily intercity railway platform, breaking the stiffness of purely displaying a costume. When the roar of the train passing over the tracks echoes from afar, and when I stand in these real daily scenes as the character, that intense sense of fragmentation instead endows me with a deeper understanding of the character.

Ultimately, we chose the phrase "May we meet again in the waking reality" to conclude. The character Firefly has her own struggles and clarity in the story, and I hope through this Spring Missive cosplay casual styling, I can convey that sense of strength in her that remains soft even in adversity. On the night after posting this set of images, my heart was actually very peaceful. Putting on this outfit and standing before a real train platform, at that moment it felt as if I truly had a cross-dimensional connection with the character.
