I specially arranged with @蒲牢411 to go to the Water park for this cosplay photoshoot. Trying a poolside outdoor shoot in the scorching heat of summer was truly a fun experience. From finalizing the outfit concept to scouting location spots, it was quite a long preparation process, but seeing the final photos made every effort completely worth it.
For styling, I chose this blue-and-white outfit infused with sailor elements, giving off a very cool overall color tone. The light blue short hair paired with side pink ties and crisscross hair clips visually stays faithful to the character's signature features from Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. The outfit details are thoughtfully designed: a semi-translucent short-sleeved crop top featuring a blue-and-white sailor collar and a bright yellow neckerchief tied at the chest, which popped vividly in the sunlight. A white pleated skirt matched with thigh-high white socks creates rich visual layering, accented by blue stripes that look incredibly crisp against the light blue pool background. Holding a white-and-pink inflatable swim ring as a prop during the shoot added vivid color accents and enabled interactive poses to keep the composition dynamic.
Sunlight was extremely abundant on the shoot day, and outdoor environments like a Water park generate strong reflections. To clearly capture the textures of the white socks and skirt hem, the photographer adjusted reflector positions repeatedly. Walking through knee-deep shallow water carried noticeable drag, making balance crucial when holding single-leg standing or half-kneeling poses, while keeping an eye on how the skirt draped once soaked. Furthermore, to prevent the wig and makeup from being ruined by water splashes and intense sun, I had to touch up hair strands and makeup constantly between takes; luckily, the wig's softness and sheen remained well-maintained.
The vibrant slides and stone pillars of the Water park served as a softly blurred background, offering rich visual depth. The overall color palette focused on blue and white, and choosing this outdoor location allowed the natural color resonance to harmonize the character with the surrounding environment smoothly. Although wading in water while wearing long white socks meant my socks and lower garment were completely soaked when moving between sets, I maintained this ensemble throughout to preserve optimal body lines and leg proportions. Once wet, the top fabric gained a subtle translucent texture, adding a hint of relaxed, carefree ambiance that fit the summer aquatic fun theme perfectly.
Since my body remained active throughout the shoot and lighting shifted constantly, this Anime-style photography set heavily tested the photographer's ability to capture transient moments. Pulao demonstrated great mastery over light and shadow for poolside portraiture, avoiding blown-out highlights under high contrast while retaining delicate water ripples and transparent skin tones. We often had to time shutter presses precisely when sunlight filtered through clouds or when glare off the water softened. This set underwent light color brightening from raw shots to preserve the original, crisp blue-and-white vibe without heavy post-processing overlays. Though completely drenched by the end, looking back at these refreshing summer photos in the camera made the day's exhaustion vanish—I hope this cool, crisp atmosphere reaches everyone.
