"Denji-kun, I actually came to keep our promise that day." This line is the core inspiration behind this set of photos. Today, I've finally organized the photos and published them as a visualized story.
I really wanted to portray Reze's quietness mixed with a touch of distance, yet concealing a gentle feeling. To get close to her character, a lot of thought went into makeup and hair styling. Light eyeshadow was used to define contours, paired with clear green contacts to make the gaze look more natural and soft. The wig features a red-to-purple gradient; special care was taken when trimming the bangs and sideburns to avoid heavy bulk while retaining shape, reaching just the right curvature to frame my face.
For clothing, I picked a classic short-sleeved white shirt with a black ribbon bow tie, a black pinafore dress over it, and a black leather choker. These elements blend harmoniously while accurately conveying the character's iconic traits. The bottom half is paired with matte black over-the-knee socks outfit and black chunky-heeled boots. The thick heel design not only stabilizes posture but also visually elongates leg proportions. I personally think pairing over-the-knee socks with high-heeled boots is very iconic in 2D style outfits; whether sitting or squatting, it outlines the lower body silhouette nicely for great photo aesthetics.
The location was chosen at a wooden-style cafe. Large glass windows and warm yellow indoor lighting gave the skin texture a clear glow. Natural wood tables, chairs, and greenery added life to the scene. Props included a transparent long-handled umbrella and a bouquet of white daisies. White flowers against wooden surroundings look clean, while the transparent umbrella adds a storytelling touch, echoing the "keeping the promise" theme—as if arriving here with thoughts right after a rain.
Regarding poses, I communicated at length with the photographer. I really love the squatting composition, which cleverly utilized leg lines and boot texture; the wrapping of over-the-knee socks plus the squatting stance gave the thigh contour an unforced aesthetic beauty. Leaning slightly forward with both hands holding the base of the flower bouquet created a relaxed, natural, yet non-careless state overall. The standing shot with the umbrella focused more on atmosphere: the umbrella tilted slightly, flowers placed on a nearby wooden chair, as if casually set down while waiting. Sitting on the chair felt more static, exuding a quiet eye-contact vibe.
In post-processing, we did a lot of subtraction: no over-the-top color filters, only adjusting ambient color temperature and light-dark contrast, retaining natural light transitions and skin texture. I feel many cosplay photos lose authenticity due to excessive retouching, whereas keeping a few folds and pores actually makes the character more vivid. The dress collar bow tie was actually slightly crooked, but I asked the editor to keep it for a more spontaneous feel.
While shooting this set, I kept the feeling of "apologizing for everything" in mind, putting remorse and the determination to make amends into every movement. Seriously treating a Cosplay daily life moment and genuinely restoring a character's inner core is far more meaningful than simply putting on a costume. Within this set under warm lighting, I think I've conveyed the intended mood. From makeup to shooting, from prop selection to editing style, no step was taken carelessly. Being able to present these photos fills me with a genuine sense of accomplishment.
