[Suzuran Cosplay] The Shamare & Suzuran Duo from Arknights: Comicup 32 Pre-Con Sweet Moments

Today was the pre-con day for Comicup 32, and I finally got to assemble the full Suzuran and Shamare outfits with my sweetheart for some sweet matching photos!

We had been planning this set for a long time. The interaction between these two characters in Arknights is incredibly sweet—their slightly mysterious yet mutually supportive bond makes it hard not to fall in love with them. To prepare for this shoot, we began styling the wigs and prepping the props quite a while in advance.

For my Suzuran look, I chose a white off-the-shoulder ruffled short top paired with a blue-and-white multi-layered skirt. Though the outfit looks simple, it has plenty of details, such as the black tactical waist belt adorned with functional accessories and ID badges, which adds depth and prevents the look from feeling plain. For the headpiece, I wore a prominent blue headband paired with fox ears. To recreate the fluffy, realistic texture from the game design, we put a lot of effort into selecting the ear materials.

Meanwhile, her Shamare look took on an entirely different style. Her pink twin-tails and cat-ear hair accessory provided a vibrant, energetic visual impact. She wore a white base shirt under a magenta cropped vest, and the asymmetrical design of her lower half was exceptionally eye-catching: black fishnet tights on one side, and white-to-pink gradient tights on the other, accented by a black thigh strap. While asymmetrical designs heavily test body proportions in cosplay styling, the on-site result was absolutely stunning.

To make our posing more playful, we also brought along long-handled weapon props. As you can see in the shadow photo I posted, the bright sunny weather cast the distinct silhouettes of our props, beast ears, and weapons onto the asphalt and grey walls. Although shadow photos are abstract and don't show facial details or costume colors, the sharp lines deliver a more artistic vibe than standard front-facing shots. This was something I really wanted to share today—successful casual cosplay doesn't always have to be close-ups of your face; sometimes, light, shadow, and the environment can bring a completely unique texture to the outfit.

As for the mirror selfie, it was a quick snap we took while adjusting our gear. Full-length mirrors are fantastic for showing off leg lines and the overall coordination of the costume. I paired my outfit with black chunky-heeled lace-up boots, which not only added height but also balanced the weight of the lower half. Snapping photos with a phone in front of a mirror is super convenient; although the composition is limited by the venue, the colors and textures were accurately captured.

Overall, today was an incredibly smooth roleplay experience. The community atmosphere was wonderful, and the venue's setup and lighting were fantastic. We purposely avoided the peak crowd hours, so when taking mirror selfies and outdoor silhouette photos, we had very few distractions from passersby, allowing us to focus entirely on expressing our characters' personalities.

Since tomorrow is the official opening day of Comicup 32, today's pre-con trial run helped us build great chemistry as partners. The comfort of the wigs and the fit of the outfits were fully tested through these continuous photos. Although standing in front of the mirror to adjust details and walking outdoors under heavy wigs was physically draining, seeing the final photos match our expectations made all the effort completely worth it.

During any cosplay process, I always place high value on capturing the core elements of a character. Whether it's Suzuran's gentle, healing aura or Shamare's slightly mysterious charm, we did our best to bring them out through our outfits and props. Today's set—ranging from indoor mirror selfies to minimalist outdoor silhouettes—captures all the various attempts we made to express our characters' traits.

All in all, this Suzuran and Shamare duo shoot showed me a few details we can optimize, while racking up valuable experience for our next official doujin event. Arknights has such a rich lore, and being able to get closer to the characters we love through cosplay is a highly rewarding feeling.
