The sun finally came out in Tokyo today, and the light spilling into the photo studio was wonderfully clear and luminous, making it perfect for shooting Belle-imouto's swimsuit. Taking advantage of the great weather, I hurried to change into this outfit. The layering of this costume is very well done. The blue hair cosplay wig was cut with defined layers, and paired with the black bucket hat accented by the orange letter 'N', the overall color scheme was firmly established. The top is a white semi-sheer short-sleeved shirt knotted at the hem, featuring colorful graphics across the chest and layered with black shoulder straps underneath. Because capturing that sense of airy lightness was essential, lighting and angles were crucial. The bottoms are bright orange high-waisted shorts with black drawstrings and black decorative strapping around the waist. To keep the frame from looking plain, I deliberately accessorized with a green necklace, orange earrings, several wrist bracelets, and a delicate metal anklet. Once up on the black circular platform, it was a process of non-stop posture adjustments. The character herself is brimming with energy, so movements needed to be broad without looking stiff. In the kneeling shot, tugging at the black strap on the shorts was mainly meant to showcase the waistline and garment cut, while offering a great stretch along the leg muscles. For standing poses, because the surface was hard and I had to stand barefoot on the platform, finding the right balance points under my feet was vital to avoid looking awkward from unstable balance. For the over-the-shoulder glance, shifting the center of gravity onto one leg while slightly pointing the other foot maximized the lengthening of leg lines while flattering bodily curves. The backdrop used pink-white and soft yellow gradient lighting, which, combined with softboxes and rim lights, made the skin appear more translucent. Because of the semi-sheer fabric, experimenting several times with lighting was necessary to show the translucency of the clothes without overexposing them. Lighting from the rear-side traced the body contours beautifully. The overall palette of Belle's swimsuit relies on color blocking, packed with summer vitality. Even though the weather outside has turned crisp and autumnal, the photos had to preserve that midsummer sunny feel. Therefore, in post-processing color grading, I preserved the high saturation of orange and blue and raised the overall brightness to keep the image crisp and clean. In movement design, adding actions like tugging straps, lifting arms, and looking back gave the still photos more breathing room. Shooting this concept in this season certainly took some courage, but the studio temperature was comfortable and the resulting photos turned out thoroughly satisfying. I hope this photo set brings everyone a touch of bright summer mood.
