The shooting venue for this Cosplay photoshoot was selected at an indoor studio filled with ancient charm. The built-in scene features not only bamboo and hanging calligraphy fabrics but also warm yellow paper lanterns and semi-translucent white drapes, which, when paired with the specially matched pink and white flower branches, easily calms one down. Considering the character's setting and temperament, the lighting arrangement didn't choose particularly blinding or harsh strong lights, but instead used soft warm light as a base to highlight that cool atmosphere carrying a hint of warmth.

Styling the wig was a time-consuming step this time. White hair itself is prone to frizz. To maintain visual smoothness and a sense of layering, it was carefully combed and set multiple times before the shoot. The straight bangs and the strands on both sides of the cheeks were given a curved treatment, which frames the face nicely while working with movements to create a naturally elegant, flowing feel. The red highlights and the pair of small red horns on top of the head serve as the visual focus of the overall styling. The red-and-white color scheme is highly eye-catching in the frame, strengthening the character's recognizability.

The outfit's design is modified from a traditional Chinese stand-up collar, combined with an off-the-shoulder design to showcase clothing details while leaving ample space for neck movement. Black straps and metal accessories at the waist embellish the white dominant tone, working with the metal rings on the sleeves and the tied red strings to keep the overall look from being monotonous. The red-and-white flame pattern on the legs is a highlight of the outfit. Although parts of it were hidden under the skirt hem or tail feathers during shooting, slightly adjusting the sitting pose or looking back instantly revealed these characteristic textures.

Two props were prepared: a long sword and a wooden bowl. The blade of the long sword features water or cloud pattern engravings, giving it a solid feel in hand without being too heavy. When swung, the reflection on the blade surface interacts with the surrounding soft light to produce a great visual effect. However, holding the sword for a long shoot indeed requires stopping to relax finger joints from time to time because maintaining the arm lines and gripping posture places high demands on static movement control. The wooden bowl set attempted different emotional expressions; it required less aggressiveness and more focused, introverted gaze, paired with the action of cradling the bowl with fingertips, creating a sense of reclusive self-contentment deep in the bamboo forest.

That large white fluffy tail is a highly representative裝扮 element, but it also added a small challenge to the shoot. When sitting or turning around, I had to constantly pay attention to the position of the tail to ensure its natural extension while avoiding any wardrobe malfunctions. During the shoot, the photographer frequently had to help confirm the tail's integration with the environment from the monitor. Fortunately, the texture of the tail in the final成片 was a major bonus, looking very fluffy and soft.

From early preparation to hair and makeup styling, and then to on-site lighting adjustment and movement guidance, the entire shoot lasted several hours. Although the body felt a bit tired—especially the waist, which got a bit sore from maintaining a certain upright angle and turning postures—seeing the frozen frames on the monitor made me feel the investment was fully worth it. Shooting is not just about changing into a set of clothes, but about capturing the character's inherent composure and coolness through costumes, props, and photography's light and shadow.

Among the five shared photos, there is the sharp elegance of holding a sword, the tranquility of cradling a tea bowl, and a hint of calculation when looking back. As the person reconstructing the charm of this character, I also experienced a vivid piece of daily life in an ancient martial arts fantasy world. I hope these ramblings about shooting details and behind-the-scenes stories can let everyone more directly see the dedication put into this work for this Ancient style photography session.
