[Hsin cosplay] Visual Recreation of Wuthering Waves' 1+1 Big Fox - Image 1

When I first received the project plan for Hsin from Wuthering Waves, I spent a lot of time contemplating how to capture that ethereal yet slightly bewitching essence from the game in real life—especially after pulling her to 1+1 (S1), which made my attachment to this Big fox grow even deeper. Working closely with the tailor on patterning alone took substantial time. The entire ensemble centers on black, white, red, and gold, forging an exceptionally bold visual contrast. For the billowing outer sleeves and white capelet, I deliberately picked fabrics with elegant drape so they would flutter fluidly during movement. The inner layer features a form-fitting black halter neckline paired with high-slit black lace shorts, maintaining an opulent grandeur while infusing alluring feminine grace. The metal chains and red knotting across the bodice were pieced together by hand strand by strand; even the black crescent motifs along the hemline were crafted with uncompromising fidelity to withstand close-up scrutiny.

The wig and headdress were without a doubt the centerpiece of the entire look. The silvery-white locks needed immense volume, crowned by a pair of massive white animal ears adorned with golden branches and star ornaments. The most challenging element was that gigantic white fox tail: to achieve that dynamic upward curve seen in-game, I built a concealed supportive framework inside. During shooting, I continually recalibrated my center of gravity to counter the tail's substantial weight, as maintaining steady balance proved quite tricky. For makeup, the focus was placed on vibrant red eyeshadow and crimson lips against a porcelain pale foundation, evoking an otherworldly, mystic allure.

The shoot was held in an industrial interior space, where cool-toned concrete pillars and overhead spotlights severely tested our lighting setup. To prevent the frames from looking harsh, cool rim lights traced the silhouette while numerous floating red spider lily props and scattered petals were suspended around the scene, carving out a fierce visual clash between vivid crimson and muted grey concrete. The clear heeled sandals accented with golden stars also elongated leg lines visually. Though physically draining from start to finish, the moment I saw the finished selects made every bit of effort worthwhile. From garment tailoring to prop fidelity, every nuance aimed to honor the original design, and I sincerely hope you all enjoy this set of Hsin.
