This time I did a Ruruka cosplay from Detective Precure!, so I was confirming the final details from makeup and styling to props. On the morning of the shoot, I arrived at the venue two hours early, first putting on the wig and adjusting the gem accessory on the forehead. This wig has a very prominent ahoge on top, with braids and small flower hair accessories on both sides, and a light pink gradient at the hair tips, giving the overall styling a strong sense of layering. Although it takes a bit of time to tidy up the stray hairs when wearing it, the final effect looks exceptionally natural.

In terms of clothing, this is a short dress with a color-blocking design of black and pink. The outer black cape part is adorned with golden edging, paired with a pink waist-cinching skirt hem inside. The ruffles on the chest and the diamond-encrusted details on the bowtie are exquisitely made, just perfectly providing a sense of support to the neckline. The puff sleeve design of the sleeves, combined with the transparent tulle fabric, contours the shoulder lines very comfortably without looking wide. For the lower body, I chose black tights to pair with it, which, combined with this pair of black patent-leather thick-soled loafers, can extend the proportions of the leg lines; this point is quite intuitively reflected in the final photos.

The shooting environment was set in an indoor bedroom. This iron bed was covered with a very thick white bedsheet and a ruffled bed skirt, giving the background a European vintage feel. A warm-toned desk lamp was placed on the back right, and the atmosphere of this lighting is excellent, building a warm golden light effect through the lens, which makes the frame lose a bit of cold hardness. In the first full-body image, I am holding that purple magic wand prop in my hand. The paint finish of the prop itself is quite good, and the purple-pink tone echoes the clothing. Moreover, the sitting pose can fully display the combination of platform shoes and black tights before the lens. This represents a fine example of Cosplay photography.

The second close-up shot is an angle I prefer. The photographer said they wanted to capture the state of my gaze, so I turned my body slightly and pressed my finger against my chin, attempting to present a playful yet slightly clever feeling. This angle happens to capture the details of the makeup. For the eye makeup, I used a red-brown colored contact lens to brighten my gaze, and added a bit of shimmering pearl to the eyeshadow part, which, paired with the lengthening effect at the root of the eyelashes, makes the eyes look spirited but not exaggerated. The pinkish-purple gem bowtie at the collar is also right in the middle of the frame, with excellent texture. The color-adjusted photos blend the skin tone and light more naturally than the raw shots. It serves as a brief Cosplay makeup tutorial insight.

The entire shooting process was very smooth because very detailed preparations were made in advance, including fixing the wig, coloring the makeup, and positioning the poses. The focus of this kind of style leaning toward a magical girl outfit lies in unleashing the color layers of the clothing and the nimbleness of the accessories. Although it requires settling down to polish the details, such as adjusting the forehead gem straight and tidying up the fluffy skirt hem, doing these steps well will improve the output rate.

The shoot for this styling took about three hours in total, during which I touched up my makeup once, and then adjusted the sitting pose and how to hold the prop. But regardless, as a personal cosplay attempt, I am relatively satisfied myself. Conveying the love for this work and character through character styling is inherently a very meaningful thing. I also regularly watch various cosplay works of different styles, and only when doing it myself do I realize how much thought is required just for the restoration of clothing and accessories. I hope the resulting final cuts can maintain this warmth and dreaminess, recording this moment of magical girl state.
