It's been a while since I first started doing Hong Meiling cosplay, and attending this Anime convention was mainly to capture more dynamic on-site angles. The on-site experience was just as described—being surrounded by circles of photographers continuously, though there were also funny lull moments when suddenly zero photographers were snapping, making for an amusing contrast.

Let's talk about the outfit first. While the initial impression features Red hair twin tails (braids) and white knee-high boots, the details are actually quite intricate. The star-marked cap bears the character '龍' (Dragon); to secure the hat, I used several bobby pins and invisible skin tape on the forehead. The dark-green and white dress features spliced fabrics with ruffled wide sleeves that are surprisingly heavy—raising my arms for just a short while caused fatigue, but the visual effect on camera is undeniably stunning. The pearl necklace was strung pearl by pearl, wrapped in multiple layers across the chest, requiring constant care when walking so it wouldn't snag on the delicate lace. The tall boots were custom-made and quite rigid; pulling them over the black shorts and long socks took real effort, and walking around the convention floor made my legs quite sore.

As for being surrounded by the crowd: this look has high recognizability in crowds, where the Red hair twin tails (braids) paired with green garments pop vividly under cool-toned lighting. Sitting on a chair in the hall, I was surrounded by a circle of photographers calling for eye contact. Sitting for extended periods made my legs go numb, but I had to maintain strict facial expression management because the moment my expression slipped, the shutter clicks would stop. Right then, during a brief lull when the crowd shifted, someone caught that candid angle—hence the playful meme about 'zero photographers,' which was really just that brief split second captured when the crowd cleared out.

These photos favor low-angle upward perspectives. The first photo features a curled-leg seated pose on the chair, though the composition is slightly off-center; the second photo adopts a more centered, open-leg seated stance that looks much more relaxed and poised. Personally, I prefer the second shot because the expression, hand gestures, and framing achieved the best harmony. The finger-heart gesture was chosen to keep my hands actively engaged, as resting them plainly on my lap could look rigid. The makeup avoided overly dramatic contouring, relying primarily on colored contacts and clean eyeliner to convey the character's spirited charm. The porcelain skin finish was achieved thanks to on-site lights catching the right angle, paired with subtle post-processing brightening.

As a cosplayer doing Hong Meiling cosplay, fidelity isn't just about gear—it requires understanding the character's demeanor in official manga and fan art. Hong Meiling is a beloved character from Touhou Project who naturally carries both a handsome martial charm and a slightly languid, relaxed ease. Pairing that attitude with seated poses that accentuate leg lines and overall silhouette perfectly captures her essence. The Anime convention experience was exhausting with continuous crowds, but seeing the final images and everyone's positive feedback made all the hard work worthwhile. I also hope that during shoots, everyone observes convention etiquette, avoids excessive crowding, and leaves enough breathing room for posing.
