[Klee Cosplay] Genshin Impact Witch Klee: Lighting Up the Magical Lanterns in Teyvat's Woods

This red-and-white witch costume is full of fun, from its tailored design to the actual wearing experience. The huge ruffled wizard hat not only requires a stiff fabric texture, but also needs to be secured with bobby pins during outdoor wear to prevent it from blowing off in the wind. White puff sleeves paired with a waist-revealing red main dress perfectly bring out the character's nimble lightness. A red bowtie, red bows, and red-and-white striped thigh-high socks maximize visual focus, making the overall color composition exceptionally striking. The large soft satchel slung across my body is actually quite heavy, but it makes me feel like I'm truly carrying a pack of travel supplies, perfectly fitting the identity of a Teyvat adventurer.

During the photoshoot, to capture Klee's innocent, unpretentious demeanor from Genshin Impact as authentically as possible, I adjusted my hand gestures multiple times in front of the camera. The shots holding the plush bunny took several attempts; I needed to create a natural interaction between the plush toy and my body while being careful not to block the delicate bows and lace trim on the skirt hem. The lantern required precise control over highlight placement so that it served as a luminous focal point in the forest setting without casting too much diffuse light that would destroy the quiet, dim atmosphere of the woods. To achieve these dynamic shots, I also tried standing on one leg and spinning or jumping many times. Thick-soled leather shoes aren't really suitable for vigorous movement, which heavily tested my balance control while moving, but it also injected an extra touch of playfulness and energy into the photo set.

In the process of recreating this classic Genshin Impact character, attention to detail was particularly crucial. The choice of fabrics for this costume was highly refined; the layered lace on the chest is never overly intricate, providing a smooth visual transition for the entire outfit. The black gloves I wore not only added to the witch's sense of mystery, but also created a striking material contrast against the metallic handle when gripping the glowing lantern. Although the boots featured a platform design, they maintained solid traction on the soft forest soil, allowing the character's posture to look confident and composed rather than hesitant.

Personally, I really favor doing Cosplay photoshoot sessions in natural light settings, because a natural light environment blended with swaying tree shadows offers both a clear transparency and a rich atmospheric feel. Even though Klee in Genshin Impact is a little girl, she possesses an unimaginable amount of energy. To convey this candidness, besides exercising proper facial expression management in front of the lens, I needed to maintain a sense of being ready to step forward and explore the world at any second. The little plush bunny in my hand was also a companion I carried with me; holding it against my chest created a wonderful chemical reaction between a sense of responsibility and the character's inherent childlike charm.

Furthermore, to be a qualified Mondstadt witch, one must have a big heart and be sufficiently cheerful. Those light steps and jumping postures in the photos are actually my efforts to visualize her inner innocence. Although executing these movements required excellent core strength to control balance, this is precisely what gives this photo set its unique sense of vitality and strength. Being able to merge myself with the character and freeze it in time through photography is the most fulfilling moment since I started doing cosplay. I love this red-and-white witch costume more and more the longer I look at it. With every press of the shutter, I felt as though I was truly immersed in the world of Genshin Impact. There was plenty of hardship during the shoot, such as insect bites in the forest and maintaining awkward poses for over ten minutes just for a specific angle. But seeing the clear lighting transitions and precise texture rendering in the final shots, all the effort evaporated. Perhaps this is the unique healing power of cosplay—using one's own body and the lens to recreate that beautiful world in one's mind. This photoshoot set represents not only my love for Genshin Impact's Klee, but also a yearning for that simple, pure happiness.
