Standing in front of the booth at Firefly ACG Expo, listening to the continuous click of camera shutters in my ears, it felt as though just a moment ago I was anxiously tweaking my wig and accessories, and the next second I found myself completely immersed in the story of wandering and adventure that this character brings. Being invited to shoot at the Wuthering Waves booth was a truly memorable experience for me, and wearing an outfit with such incredible texture immediately helped me lock into the right mindset.
This time I cosplayed a Wuthering Waves cosplay design. The outfit follows a classic Techwear outfit style, featuring a black halter off-the-shoulder top that naturally exudes a sleek and sharp aesthetic. The off-white crisscross straps and dangling fabric strips around the neckline serve as finishing touches, breaking up the monotony of all-black while adding a touch of post-apocalyptic mystery. The fine lace-up detailing across the chest highlights intricate craftsmanship; as I walked through the convention, these dynamic elements kept the look from feeling rigid. The subtle gold rectangular emblem on the left chest and the golden cross patterns on the waist pouch gave this black-and-gray ensemble a striking metallic texture. Most eye-catching of all was the bright orange-yellow tassel hanging from the right hip—when sitting on the rugged stone platform or striking poses, the cascading tassel added a vivid sense of vitality.
Naturally, a great look relies heavily on the right accessories and footwear. The detail I was most satisfied with in this Techwear outfit was the asymmetric leg styling. One side featured high-texture black leather knee-high boots, while the other paired Black stockings in mesh with a thigh garter ring. This asymmetrical design transformed what could have been a conventional black outfit into a stunning visual statement. The sharp contrast in textures perfectly embodied the game's post-apocalyptic atmosphere of seeking survival and strength. Although the leather boots were somewhat heavy and caused fatigue during prolonged standing or posing on lower platforms, seeing the crisp coolness captured in these Convention photos made it entirely worth the effort.
This shoot was completed alongside my collaborating photographer. We experimented with various sitting positions and angles onsite—such as aiming prop firearms toward the lens or resting a hand beside my cheek. The photographer professionally guided me to adjust my body weight and tilt, ensuring that details like the tall boots, thigh ring, and straps were showcased flawlessly in these Convention photos. The booth lighting was quite complex, combining blue-purple ambient backdrop lights with cool white top spotlights. Under the side-backlight, this not only carved out crisp rim lights around my hair strands but also brought out a refined sheen from the black leather armor, creating exceptional depth and quality.
Every anime expo feels like an unspoken dialogue with fans both in front of and behind the screen. As crowds flowed around the booth, wearing such striking gear initially made me feel a bit shy under all the attention, but hearing someone recognize and call out the character's name instantly sparked a warm, powerful sense of resonance. Standing under the spotlights felt like stepping onto that continent filled with unknowns and challenges, ready to embark on a new journey and live through its complex, profound narrative. When the shoot wrapped up, I sat resting on the stone platform, gazing out at the meticulously decorated booths and moving crowds. Beyond completing the assignment, I truly felt the magical allure of immersive cosplay. This short adventure defined by a black Techwear outfit will remain deeply etched in my memories of Firefly ACG Expo.
