[Barbara Cosplay] Genshin Impact Summer Swimsuit, Healing Shining Debut

For this convention, I directly booked both studio shoots and Cosplay event photos, cosplaying Barbara's Swimsuit cosplay look from Genshin Impact. The overall costume features large color-blocking of ocean blue and white, combining classic sailor collar elements with off-the-shoulder cuts and detached sleeve covers. The eye-catching large golden bow on the chest serves as the visual centerpiece, nicely gathering the lines of the upper body. This look includes plenty of accessories—such as the blue choker on the neck, blue-and-white dual-tone bows on the head, and the bright yellow small bag at the waist, all adding rich layering to this ensemble. For the lower body, a high-cut one-piece base and blue leg garters were selected, making the style perfectly fit the summer swimsuit theme.

In terms of styling preparation, the golden wig was designed with twin-tails and straight blunt bangs, with the side curls permed in advance to be fluffy and neat so it wouldn't look too stiff when worn. To match the character's traits, I wore bright blue colored contact lenses paired with a clear, translucent eye makeup to make my gaze appear brighter. For cosplaying sailor-suit type characters, besides a well-fitted outfit, skin condition must also look clean, so the makeup was intentionally kept clear and fresh.

For location choices and photography this time, shooting ideas were switched across different areas. For instance, a full-body standing photo was taken inside the convention venue, where tall load-bearing pillars and dark grey reflective floors provided a great cool-toned background for the image. On-site lighting required proper flash coordination because reflective floors easily overexpose, but once controlled, the overall shadows and color tones yielded a very cool, bright anime feel. To add a dynamic sense to the photo, I intentionally spread my arms, fully showcasing the small yellow waist bag and overall costume silhouette.

Besides standing poses, I also tried compositions sitting on a white plush rug. In some shots I was barefoot, which, combined with leg garters and a fluffy skirt hem, made the overall vibe feel more languid and relaxed, nicely capturing facial expressions and twin-tail wig details. Poses like lying face down or hugging my knees better focused on the upper body and the large blue sailor collar combination; with white lace frills and bright yellow details responding to the blue-and-white primary color scheme, the color contrast looked exceptionally comfortable in the photos.

When doing Genshin Impact cosplay, because the characters' personality settings are highly recognizable, I tried my best to lean toward a lively and cheerful direction in terms of expression and movement. This outfit actually emphasizes balance the most; off-the-shoulder cuts and sleeve covers fully expose the shoulder line, so arm angles must be watched while posing—neither too stiff nor too limp. Additionally, when turning or tilting my head, the ends of the twin-tails sway into natural arcs, which, aligning with camera angles, captures a very natural side. For this shoot, several compositions were discussed with the photographer in advance, focusing on wig texture, colored contact lens details, and gold accessories on the costume.

Overall, cosplaying a character with sailor suit elements and tight fabrics at an anime convention truly tests costume/makeup/prop coordination and lighting control. In these final Convention photos, both the presentation of light and shadow and the naturalness of character expressions reached my expected outcome. Different poses showcased the design language of the outfit from various angles, making this Genshin Impact cosplay look even more vivid and three-dimensional in front of the lens.
