Recording yesterday's work session: using this outfit to share my thoughts and experiences from this try-on.

A fitting cosplay costume often demands a substantial investment of time, energy, and money, but this time I wanted to try something different. The total expenditure for this styling was kept within 300 RMB, focusing on self-fulfillment under an extreme budget. Despite the heavily compressed costs, the overall thematic presence remained distinct through the makeup, styling, and garment presentation. Today's attire is Theresa Cosplay from Arknights—a self-challenge in recreating the core traits of this 6th anniversary outfit on a limited budget, especially requiring careful thought in sculpting the gradient hair color and horns on the head.

First, let's talk about the horns and the wig. The wig features a flaxen blonde gradient transitioning into soft pale pink, paired with sturdy black-and-red gradient horns that not only boosted character recognition but also served as a great visual focus during selfies. Especially in the first close-up shot, the purple contacts and carefully shaped winged eyeliner, combined with downturned lower lashes, captured the character's gentle yet poignant expression. This is why the half-body shot turned out well—all the visual highlights were concentrated in the face, neck, and shoulder area.

However, once worn, this costume did bring some unexpected situations. The fabric is relatively stiff, and paired with the ruffled collar and delicate floral chain accessories, the upper body offers decent layering. Yet moving down to the lower half—just as I self-deprecatingly called the "barrel" effect—this long gown lacks adequate drape, and the high-slit cut created stubborn wrinkles around the waist that made the lower silhouette look bulky. Calling it a "mysterious silhouette" is quite accurate, as viewed from straight on or from above, the waist and abdomen puff out like a cylinder wrapping around the body. Nonetheless, in full-body shots, this seemingly awkward fit unexpectedly conveyed a casual, sweeping elegance.

Taking that side-angle slit photo in front of the full-length mirror by the stairs was a personal record for myself. Even though the lower half was teased as a barrel, the slit cut visually elongated the leg line, which, paired with black flat pumps, struck a delicate balance between everyday wear and 2D aesthetics. That said, whether heading to an anime convention or participating in similar creator support programs, wearing comfort is crucial. Despite the unusual tailoring, this outfit didn't hinder movement at all.

For eye makeup, I reinforced the facial contours by deepening the eye sockets with dark eyeshadow, applying natural false eyelashes, and drawing layered eyeliner to present ample dimensionality and vibrancy before the camera. Additionally, choosing purple contact lenses echoed the white keynote of the outfit and the pale pinkish-white hair. Under harsh indoor convention lighting, the makeup didn't wash out, appearing refined against the cool-fair foundation.

Over my years of doing cosplay, I've often fallen into the misconception of spending excessively in pursuit of 100% accuracy. But thinking about it carefully, our core passion for a character lies not in expensive props, but in the willingness to pour our heart and soul into the portrayal. Putting together this Arknights Theresa Cosplay texture with a budget under 300 RMB is already a very successful attempt in my book. After all, among fellow fans, what everyone values most is sincere love for the character.

Many costumes only showcase their best side under specific photography angles. During close-ups, the camera can focus on intricate makeup and fine hair strands, while turning or snapping candid moments allows the swaying hemline of the long skirt to add dynamic life to the frame. Naturally, this photo set underwent minimal post-processing, remaining mostly raw and direct. This authenticity better conveys the vibrant, lived-in feel of completing a cosplay rather than presenting sterile, over-retouched images.

Ultimately, every cosplay outing is a journey of self-exploration. Regardless of how the final visual turns out, the experience and insights gained along the way are the most precious takeaways. If slightly altered later—cinching the excess fabric at the waist or swapping to a softer, draping fabric—the overall result could look completely transformed. Overall, while this look had minor imperfections under everyday lighting, I still love the feeling this outfit brought. Letting a beloved character step into life through low-cost creativity is perhaps the greatest joy cosplay offers me.
