[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact Cocogoat: Textured presentation of remastered archive photos - Image 1

Remastering old photos: this set of Ganyu convention photos from Guangzhou CICF has undergone a complete post-processing overhaul. The original raw shots actually had solid foundations, but I always felt the atmospheric color mood was lacking something. Having found some time recently, I recolored them and touched up the fine details. When cosplaying Ganyu, garment texture is paramount. The dark blue modified cheongsam I wore features subtle woven jacquard patterns that cast a gentle satin sheen under light. Dangling from the chest is that iconic bronze-toned bell, carrying a very substantial weight and swaying gently with every step. The arms feature black translucent sheer sleeves finished with dark blue cuff paneling, which flatters arm contours while keeping the look from feeling plain. The high side slit of the skirt is personally one of my favorite details; it moves with airy lightness as I walk and, layered over the white inner lining, creates wonderful dynamic motion on camera. The light blue accent lines, white floral accents, and golden piping inject immense layered depth into the dark skirt. Fastened at the waist are a blue geometric ornament and a red knotted tassel, serving as exquisite pops of accent color so the ensemble never feels muted.

To recreate the character's facial and cranial features, the black-and-crimson dual horn headpieces and the golden floral hairpin on the side were prepared well in advance. The ice-blue wig was the very soul of this set; trimming and styling it to look voluminous yet layered took considerable patience. For makeup, purple colored contacts paired with soft pink blush gave the face a tender touch while invoking a non-daily, ethereal dreaminess. Raising both hands beside my head with elbows flared while posing opened up the shoulder and neck lines, perfectly showcasing the chest bell and the black sheer neckline detailing.

This remaster focused heavily on reshaping light and shadow. Because the convention lighting was relatively chaotic, highlights in the raw files clipped slightly. This time, I suppressed the background highlights and lifted the facial shadows to sculpt more three-dimensional facial features. Simultaneously, I fine-tuned the saturation and brightness of the blues to harmonize the garments and hair within the same color family, preventing any visual discordance. For skin retouching, genuine texture was retained rather than over-smoothing, primarily to preserve organic authenticity. The seiza-style kneeling posture severely tested core stability—raising and holding both arms upward risked fabric bunching into awkward creases if I faltered for a second, making the photographer's capture timing critical. A wide aperture smoothly blurred the bustling convention background, locking viewer focus squarely onto the character.

From preparing garments and props to hair and makeup on the day, through to this secondary post-production polish, the entire journey was tedious yet seeing the final images makes every bit worthwhile. No stockings were added for this set, primarily to preserve bare skin texture while highlighting lines purely through composition and posing. The overall outcome aligns closely with my personal interpretation of Ganyu, and I look forward to exploring even more diverse styles in the future.
