For this shoot of the White dress version of Asuka Cosplay, the focus was placed on set design and lighting manipulation. While one might expect the pairing of a White dress and Sunflowers to feel soft and gentle, to emphasize the character's inherent personality tension, I specially selected a vintage patterned rug, white wrought-iron screens, and a birdcage. The position of the Sunflowers on the easel was repeatedly adjusted before setting up the lights; blending real flowers with the oil painting backdrop gave the scene a stronger sense of storytelling.
In terms of costume styling, the off-the-shoulder White dress with puff sleeves naturally carries classical charm; accented with a red bow tie and pearl necklace, expansive areas of white served to highlight the red visual focal points. The red criss-cross lace-up shoes were an eye-catching highlight of the entire ensemble; to elongate the leg lines, I deliberately stretched my legs forward to complement the camera's perspective angle during seated poses. The blue contact lenses were key to recreating the character's gaze, looking even sharper against the relatively soft ambiance of the White dress.
During the shoot, some poses utilized the folds of the dress for composition—such as sitting sideways to glance back or kneeling. Other poses were reclining, using the red shoes and the spread of the skirt hem to create visual depth and layering. Since the scene was dominated by light and warm tones, with myself surrounded by Sunflowers, the lighting specifically emphasized skin translucency to preserve the oil painting-like texture of this work.
Post-processing avoided heavy special effects, focusing primarily on unifying the color palette to harmonize the tones of the walls, rug, and Sunflowers. Emotion control was crucial during the shoot, striking a balance between a cool gaze and elegant movements. Although this is a photoshoot leaning into a classical painterly style, the character's signature tsundere aura had to be preserved. The entire preparation process—including adjusting the twintail wig placement, the tightness of the bow tie, and shoe angles in seated poses—took considerable effort, and the final results perfectly matched my original vision for this Vintage style concept.
