[Rice Shower cosplay] Serene Elegance in Umamusume: Pretty Derby: Red-and-Blue Contrast from Suzhou Anime Convention

The red-and-blue costume of the character Rice Shower absorbs a lot of light under convention lighting. To capture this cinematic, moody, low-key look, we spent a long time at the 1.28 Suzhou Anime Convention searching for a backlit spot with vertical light tubes. The core of this makeup and styling was recreating the character's quiet, introverted demeanor: I wore vivid purple-blue contact lenses paired with voluminous, half-face-covering long hair, using earth-toned eyeshadow to deepen the eye sockets so the gaze appeared cooler and more distant. The wig was trimmed in advance, and the two curls on top of the head were restyled with hairspray. The small blue mini-hat on the side and the blue rose on the chest were securely fastened to keep them from falling off while walking. The outfit is made of dark blue velvet fabric paired with jagged-edged red gloves; these two high-contrast colors look exceptionally textured under low light. During the shoot, I mainly leaned against the background railing. To avoid looking stiff while standing, most poses were switched to resting my chin on my hand sideways or squatting down to look at the lens. These poses showcased the upper body costume details while making head angles easy to control. The convention was crowded that day with loud ambient noise; to capture clean half-body and full-body Convention photos, we waited out several waves of passing crowds before seizing moments with cleanly blurred backgrounds. That shoot was mainly meant as a Suzhou photoshoot booking to capture my complete state for the day, and my favorites are the candid snapshots taken in dimmer lighting, where the overall atmosphere aligned nicely with the character's solitary vibe. When organizing the photos, I intentionally selected a seated pose for the cover because the lighting was the most even, the subject was centered, and it showcased the leg extension along with the complete costume silhouette. This set didn't undergo overly complex retouching, mainly preserving subtle film grain. I hope everyone can feel the quiet perseverance I portrayed while embodying this character at the Suzhou Anime Convention.
