This time, my Furina cosplay showcase was set in a gaming room in Shangjie District, aiming to try out a refreshingly distinct look. Furina's attire in Genshin Impact inherently leans toward ornate and vintage courtly elegance, so placing her inside a modern, high-tech esports style environment created a fascinating visual synergy.
Styling the wig required extensive pre-shoot trimming; plenty of hairspray went into preserving the volume and signature upturned flicks of the short white hair. The deep-blue jacket with golden trim posed quite a challenge for studio lighting—lighting that was too flat would wash out the delicate gold embroidery, while lighting that was too dim would make the fabrics look dull. The inner white shirt and sapphire brooch on the chest served as the crowning touch. A special shoutout goes to the leg accessories: black leather straps adorned with gold tassels. Even without stockings, the snug cinch of the straps accentuated my leg contours wonderfully before the lens. The deliberate contrast between the white glove on the right hand and the black glove on the left was another subtle nod honoring the original design while adding visual depth.
The scepter in my hand was handcrafted by our prop team. It had considerable heft, making my arm ache after holding it for long periods, so finding proper leverage points during shooting was essential. Expression-wise, I couldn't appear overly solemn; I had to channel that signature blend of confidence and haughty poise unique to the character, all while harmonizing with the esports style ambiance. Speaking of Shangjie District, the gaming arena here boasts top-notch equipment and spacious interiors, perfectly suiting our theme. Prior to the shoot, I scouted the venue in person, observing monitor heights and chair rotation angles to ensure my poses flowed naturally into the setting.
Cosplay is never just about wearing a costume; it's about breathing life into the character across diverse settings. This character has weathered so much throughout the story—her nobility and unwavering perseverance had to be channeled through subtle micro-expressions and body language. For instance, the grip on the scepter and tension in my fingers reflected her attitude toward that mantle of authority. Yet perched in a gaming chair, my gaze couldn't wander aimlessly; it needed to command the room. I also experimented with varied lighting schemes, utilizing cool fill lights to accentuate garment textures and warm accents on my face to enhance facial dimension. During post-production, we prioritized preserving natural skin texture and crisp golden trim details without excessive skin smoothing, keeping the Anime-style photography authentic.
The setup featured dual monitors, a mechanical keyboard, and a mouse on the desk, with the displays running Genshin Impact itself. Most eye-catching of all was the wall behind me lined with stacks of RTX 5070 graphics card boxes—an entire wall covered in ZOTAC GAMING packaging, truly the dream gaming sanctuary for many gamers! This cyberpunk, modern esports vibe sparked an enchanting chemical reaction against her classical palace elegance.
The first shot was a standing pose, holding the scepter with a hand over my chest to project dignified regal grace. The second shot captured me glancing back while seated in the chair—an angle that flawlessly highlighted the strap details along my legs, while the pink mousepad and headset on the desk enriched the scene's color story. For lighting, we combined the key light with blue ambient glow, which not only resonated with her Hydro element but also made the monitor displays in the background pop.
The shooting process was actually quite rushed because navigating the packed equipment in the gaming room meant constantly shifting camera positions to combat unwanted glare. I'm thrilled with how the final photos turned out: blending the character's majestic presence with the contemporary flair of a modern gamer. Consider this photo set a chronicle of an exciting crossover experiment in Anime-style photography!
