As a Nangong Yu cosplay portraying the Delusional Angel, I'm finally able to share this shoot from Firefly ACG Expo with everyone! Preparing this outfit took quite a while—just the purple spiked halo structure on top of my head required repeated testing and reinforcement to ensure it wouldn't easily tilt while walking or posing. Putting on the glossy black crop top and pleated miniskirt for the first time, I felt my entire aura transformed by the outfit. The high surface gloss provided ideal reflective effects, though at the cost of breathability, but luckily the convention hall air conditioning was cool enough to keep me in great shape throughout the day.

When styling this look, I particularly fell in love with the asymmetric sleeve design. One side features a wide, flowy purple lantern sleeve that adds fantastic dynamic movement when swinging my arms; the other side is a detached black sleeve cover detailed with white accents and small pink spikes. The large pink bow on the chest is the most vibrant splash of color against the overall black-and-white tone, creating a brilliant color echo with the pink gradient highlights at the ends of my black hair.

Of course, the lower body combination is the most recognizable part of this look. Over-the-knee sheer black stockings paired with black platform boots featuring heavy metal buckles create a contrast between tough black textures and soft stockings. The length and silhouette of the pleated skirt naturally reveal the upper thighs when lifting a leg, and the hidden blue lining beneath the skirt hem adds extra depth to the outfit. This style elongates the leg lines while exuding a rebellious punk aesthetic, perfect for an anime cosplay look.

We chose a spot in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the elevated second floor of the convention venue for the shoot. The plaza below was packed with queuing visitors and cosplayers, with colorful umbrellas and bustling crowds in view. This location provided abundant natural diffused light without the interference of complex studio lighting, beautifully preserving the raw texture of light and shadow. Overlapping with the real-world crowds through the glass gave this anime character a surreal mix of detachment and reality.

In posing, I experimented with several different angles: playful V-signs near the eyes, a casual tilt standing on one leg, and a sideways stance as if giving a salute or greeting. Lifting my leg required great balance every time since the platform boots were quite heavy, making it easy to lose stability. Especially for the single-leg pose in photo two, I had to tighten my core muscles to hold the stance steady, but thankfully the final snapped shot turned out super crisp.

Convention venues are usually noisy, but the high glass window felt like it blocked out part of the hustle and bustle, allowing me to settle down and focus on the lens. Maintaining an upright posture all day in this outfit was no easy feat due to the stiff patent leather material and top-heavy halo weight. Fortunately, the photographer was fantastic at guiding poses, balancing skin tone and outfit shine under natural light. Cosplaying a beloved character is truly a process of experiencing a completely different personality in the real world.

Walking through the crowds at Firefly ACG Expo, several fans recognized the Delusional Angel Nangong Yu and gave lots of encouraging feedback, moments that truly inspired me. I hope this photo set by the glass window lets everyone feel my dedication to this look. Bringing together black hair, pink tips, red eyes, and black patent leather, all frozen in time by the camera lens, felt like a genuinely fulfilling experience. That's the magic of conventions—despite the crowded venue, every fusion with a cherished character brings endless satisfaction. I'm already looking forward to meeting everyone at upcoming offline expos with even more refined makeup, styling, and creations!
