The shooting concept for this set of Genshin Impact Nahida cosplay photos was to let Lesser Lord Kusanali blend into the modern everyday life. This time, instead of wearing that complex outfit from the game, I chose a white-and-green sailor suit, retaining the iconic silver-green gradient wig and the gold-trimmed green leaf hair accessory. The green lines on the collar and the dark green bow tie preserved the character's color elements while making the overall styling more everyday, feeling like Nahida experiencing a normal student's day.
The scenes were chosen at a bookstore and an arcade. In the bookstore, I wanted to showcase her quiet reading side and curiosity about the world; holding up or displaying the Genshin Impact artbook to cover her face simulated the everyday state of browsing books. A special note here: that book wasn't moved at all, it was already crooked to begin with, which actually resulted in a casual, natural feel in the photos rather than being intentionally arranged that way.
Arriving at the arcade, the style shifts abruptly. Facing the red gashapon machine, the moment looking over in profile felt as if she was seriously contemplating whether she could pull the desired secret edition. The red lighting cascading down instantly maxed out the atmosphere, forming a strong visual contrast with the green-and-white sailor suit. The action of lightly touching the glass panel with one hand was actually capturing that momentary light-and-shadow reflection, giving the frame more storytelling.
During the shoot, the photographer kept guiding me to relax. For instance, in the photo leaning on the railing with arms crossed and gaze vacant, the goal was to convey a relaxed and lazy feeling without intentionally posing expressions. There were also peace signs and framing gestures, showcasing Nahida's lively and innocent side—especially the gesture in the first photo, with eyes looking straight into the lens, feeling like face-to-face communication with you.
In terms of makeup, to get closer to the character, I wore bright green circle lenses, thickened the eyelashes in the eye makeup, emphasized the layering of the eyeshadow, and applied a relatively light blush to maintain an overall clear and translucent look. The wig was also braided and styled to make the top of the head look more three-dimensional.
A huge thank you to Yijiu for modeling and teacher Shuixia for guidance; I truly learned a lot about composition and lighting from P5 and P6. As a beginner in photography, I also tried my best to restore Nahida's fresh and natural feeling during post-processing color grading, avoiding overly heavy filters, preserving the real texture of the skin, and making the background blur relatively natural to highlight the subject. The overall vibe is a relaxed and lively one-day date; I hope everyone likes Nahida in this different style.
During the shooting process, it was actually necessary to continuously adjust emotions. Although Nahida is the God of Wisdom, she also has a childlike, innocent side. Therefore, in a single scene, I would quickly switch states—from a quiet and well-behaved schoolgirl in the bookstore, to a curious gamer in the arcade, to a lazily resting girl by the railing. Every moment captured by the photography was a small exploration of the character's personality. By daily-fying the costume, allowing a 2D anime character to step into 3D real life, this feeling of breaking the dimensional wall is truly magical. These photos record these wonderful moments and also mark a precious attempt on my path of role-playing as a cosplayer, as well as in photography and post-processing.
