Today's photoshoot subject is Nico Yazawa, the energetic yet tsundere idol from Love Live!. To achieve a perfect restoration, I did a lot of homework in advance. From the trimming of the wig to the production of this iconic black-and-pink color-matched idol stage costume, I hoped every little detail could stay close to the soul of the character.

Red eyes, black twin-tails, cat ears with plush balls, and the large pink microphone in hand—this is Nico's classic idol stage look. Especially the golden little bell hanging around the neck and the black cat badge on the chest, both emphasize that unique sense of "cuteness" in her personality. The black pleated skirt with gold star-dots on the costume, paired with the pink ruffles, creates a strong sense of layering. To reflect the idol's lightheartedness, the white plush balls decorated on the skirt hem and gloves also add a lot of lively visual elements.

During the shooting process, I tried many small movements to mimic the character's charm—such as holding the microphone while closing one eye to make a victory sign, or naturally crouching on the ground like a cat. To be honest, moving around extensively in this outfit is not easy, especially that fluffy black cat tail behind me, which is not only for styling but also for maintaining balance. To restore her confident yet slightly spoiled and proud feeling, I spent quite a bit of thought on scheduling the gaze and micro-expressions.

Today's shooting set selected soft pink and white as the main color scheme, with fresh fruits and white flower vases placed on the table, and pink-and-blue balloons beside them. This dreamy backdrop atmosphere perfectly matches the youthful, warm, and dream-filled keynote of Love Live! works. The moment I picked up the microphone, it truly felt like standing on my own little stage.

Speaking of the costume's material, the black matte fabric paired with the bright pink satin, plus multiple layers of ruffles, looks very light, but its texture restoration under the lighting is highly impressive, yielding an incredible out-of-print rate.

Throughout the subsequent shooting process, I made many suggestions in cooperation with the photographer while portraying the character's image. Because if one wants to create a cosplay photoset that makes people's eyes light up, one cannot just stop at the superficial restoration of clothing. For example, how should one hold the microphone to look more natural? How should the tilt angle of the head and the drop point of the gaze coordinate to possess that idol-like vividness? I don't really like striking those extremely rigid poses that can only be used for flat graphic layouts; I prefer the Nico presented in the frame to be vibrant, laughing and interacting with the audience.

Actually, the state in the photos was pretty good. In a few frames, I was almost tripped by the overly long microphone cord midway, but for the sake of the print effect, it can just be counted as an unknown little blooper.

Returning home to organize these negatives, looking at myself in the frames, I truly feel that every effort has its value. This styling, from conception to completion and then to actual shooting, condenses a lot of understanding of idol culture and character essence. I hope these sets of photoshoots can record the best state of character sculpting at this stage. Having completed the organization, it is a very fulfilling log of this 2D Cosplay journey.
