[CC cosplay] Convention Photos from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Royal Blue Long Dress and a Cold, Sharp Gaze

This set of Convention photos comes from the event floor, where photographer Maple captured full states in various postures. In terms of outfit selection, this royal blue long dress with a velvet texture is highly sensitive to lighting; its color saturation is rich, and paired with matching detached sleeves, it creates a gorgeous yet distant visual effect. The backless cut-out and waist-revealing design on the front demand good posture and clean body lines to fully display the outfit's natural silhouette. The mint green wig's bangs were specifically trimmed beforehand to ensure they wouldn't obscure the focal point of my eyes whether looking down or gazing upward.

The convention was buzzing with energy that day. To dodge chaotic background lighting, Maple specially chose an indoor spot with diffused light, using black reflective floor tiles to build depth of field so we could remain focused on character portrayal amidst the surrounding crowd. For posing, I experimented with different tones. For example, using a single-leg lifted standing posture extended the dynamic flow of the dress, showing natural wavy folds created by momentum. For seated shots, the key lay in combining hand gestures and eye contact to convey a ruler's gaze—lazy yet commanding. During the shoot, despite minor skin oiliness, the cool white base makeup handled the red lip contrast splendidly, and side glance-backs clearly highlighted the shadowed jawline and collarbone contours rendered by the lighting. The core of CC's aura is a detached, nonchalant control over the world, so I avoided overly forced poses, choosing instead to let the dress folds blend naturally into the environment when squatting, leaning, or spinning.

Among the various angles from this shoot, some close-ups highlight back contours, while others capture the front slit design and leg markings. The deep blue pointed high heels were custom-matched; metal star accents on the vamps produced subtle reflections while walking. For Convention photos, surrounding noise and crowds don't disrupt our state of character immersion. On the contrary, real-time communication between the gaffer and photographer allowed the live atmosphere to naturally guide spontaneous postures. Beyond static posing, I also tried dynamic snapshots—such as letting the skirt bloom during a swift turn, which the photographer captured perfectly as the shutter clicked.

Regarding outfit accuracy, the utmost priority lies in matching garment cut with fabric texture, alongside unified makeup styling. The royal blue satin material exhibits cool-toned highlights under indoor spotlights, while shadow areas remain deep as the night sky—perfectly echoing this character's cool, glamorous essence. During shoot breaks, I constantly checked the wig for frizz, though the mint green fibers were soft and fine, staying flowy with a quick comb-through. When shooting glance-backs, wig weight and trailing skirt drag created opposing forces, requiring a firm upper-body core to stay balanced. Though physically demanding after a long shoot, seeing the fabric present vibrant, gorgeous light and shadow in the final shots made the total immersion in character performance deeply gratifying. Weather was a bit chilly during the shoot; despite venue heating, exposed skin left me cold, but the enthusiastic atmosphere helped maintain muscle tension to keep body lines sleek. Every convention photo session feels like a time capsule, freezing this character's unique, captivating charisma.

Returning to makeup styling, to faithfully replicate CC's signature expression, I invested considerable effort into eye makeup. I used cool gray and light brown tones to build shadowed depth around eye sockets, paired with white contact lenses; this unnatural iris coloration swiftly heightened her otherworldly detachment. Lip makeup featured true red, maintaining crisp contour contrast even after multiple touch-ups and water breaks. Reviewing the unedited photos, the straight hair displayed great drape and silkiness—thanks to an all-night hair care routine before the event to prevent frizz. Beyond front and back angles, related mark tattoos were applied to my leg skin, complementing the high slit of the royal blue long dress to enrich lower-body visual details rather than leaving it feeling empty.

We found a relatively uncrowded spot inside the hall for shooting; though adjacent booths were faintly visible in the background, bokeh from the wide aperture blurred them into an authentic convention atmosphere. When trying the single-leg standing composition, I engaged my core to balance body tilt while lifting a wide sleeve with my left hand and waving the skirt hem with my right, forming a dance-like posture. Flash reflections off the blue dress's metallic piping during motion tested the gaffer's coordination, but fortunately photographer Maple was adept at capturing light reflection points precisely. Photos focusing on back contours naturally outlined muscles down to the lower back dimples, representing one of my favorite profile poses.

Speaking of wearability, while stunning, the outfit imposes movement constraints. Keeping the dress front and waist smooth requires keeping abdomen tucked while standing. Furthermore, the long detached sleeves look imposing, but large arm movements or spins require caution to avoid hitting onlookers or objects. Still, these are common challenges in convention 2D Cosplay; once accustomed, the attire commands a sense of ritual. The entire shoot took roughly forty minutes as we explored lighting zones across the venue, ultimately selecting the black tile area as our primary studio space. Black floor tiles absorb excess glare, yielding pure outfit colors. Furthermore, sitting on the tiles spread out the royal blue long dress into a striking blue-black contrast against the floor, complemented by orange leg marks to create a classic visual palette matching her commanding, opulent lore. Though brief, this CC cosplay convention photo shoot yielded valuable experience in portraying complex character archetypes.
