This shoot themed around "Nightmares and Sweet Dreams" was a complete restoration attempt of PA15 from Girls' Frontline. During early preparation, styling the wig was key. The light blue twin-tails were not simply tied up, but shaped with hairpins and setting spray to give hair strands a weightless floating feel in the cold wind. The blue mechanical-style hair accessory at the crown served as the finishing touch, instantly outlining the character's cool and slightly tsundere appearance.
For makeup, to complement the cool-toned atmosphere, we didn't pursue an overly sweet look. The base makeup leaned cold-white, but the eye makeup deliberately used pink shimmer blending to contrast with the cold surroundings. Combined with light-colored contact lenses, her gaze under cold light maintained a sci-fi shooter agent's vigilance while exuding an elusive, dreamy mystery. This interplay of warm and cold makeup perfectly echoed the character's intrinsic dual nature.
The outfit featured a heavy techwear design. The main piece was a black off-the-shoulder short top made of matte material, with metallic front zippers and blue spliced arm lines providing a strong modular mecha visual effect. Accessories like sleeves and gloves added depth while tying firmly into the overall Cyberpunk style. Black shorts kept the outfit crisp and sharp, achieving a balance between coverage and exposed skin while allowing freer movement.
The most hardcore part representing this styling was the pair of dark blue mecha boots. Massive in volume, they featured silver-grey metal hardware and heavy armor splicing, feeling heavy and packed with power. Within the overall look, these bulky mecha boots created a very interesting contrast with the accompanying single black high-heeled boot. In Photo 1's composition, one booted foot and one removed high-heeled boot appeared together, establishing the scene while enhancing story-driven setting details.
For the background set, the team specifically constructed a cool blue-toned medical laboratory. Ambient light sources mainly came from wall LED light strips and vintage monitor screens. Thick black cables coiling across the floor, exposed conduits, and high-tech equipment cabinets on the left significantly boosted the Cyberpunk style texture and oppressive tech atmosphere. During shooting, careful attention was paid to camera positions and light reflections, allowing cold light to contour the jacket, wig, and metallic details on the mecha boots, making the character blend seamlessly into that sci-fi shooter world.
The white prop gun held in hand featured a sleek, modern design, serving as the central interactive prop. For the sitting pose in Photo 1, I deliberately shifted my center of gravity, letting one unbooted foot become a visual clue, while my gun-holding fingers and gaze maintained an alert, composed state. Photo 2's kneeling pose showed complete relaxation, with the removed boot placed in front and hands hanging naturally, conveying her languid, casual mood after stepping away from battle.
Regarding performance, I kept repeating her line in my mind during shooting: "Nightmares and sweet dreams are both my face, right?" This subtle tension needed expression through concrete body language, conveying cold, professional agent traits without making facial expressions look stiff. In post-processing, we preserved the transparent cool blue tones of the environment while enhancing facial lighting, giving the photos a restrained yet visually striking Cyberpunk style texture. The photographer's lighting setup was incredibly precise, seamlessly fusing cold technology with character charm in this PA15 cosplay session.
