Today, I finally got all the gear for this research assistant ready as part of my Coser daily life. Changing into this white coat and black bowtie, I immediately felt like I got into character. This shoot aimed to recreate that professional and calm aura, and the final result fits the character's detached vibe even better than imagined.

First, let's talk about the preparation of details. This lab coat was specifically chosen with a relatively crisp fabric, so whether standing naturally or raising a hand to tidy up hair by the ear, the folds of the clothing remain neat and crisp without looking sloppy or loose. The inner wear is a pure white collared shirt, paired with this tight small bowtie; the bowtie knot was intentionally tightened to express the character's rigorous sense of constant focus and vigilance. The exclusive ID badge hanging around the neck is a very crucial signal. I adjusted the lanyard length several times so it rests right below the chest, preventing visual overlap with props in hand in front of the lens. The basic clipboard in my hand actually replaces more complex lab equipment; combined with my naturally hanging or half-raised gestures, it conveys a state of recording data amidst busy work.

For makeup, I deliberately kept it restrained without exaggerated eyeshadow, instead using a very subtle earth-tone base and accentuating the inner corners of the eyes with fine highlights to make the gaze look clearer. The base makeup was kept light and thin to preserve natural skin texture, ensuring it wouldn't reflect or lose focus under cool-toned purple lighting. The hairstyle features the iconic long straight black hair with heavy full bangs, with the hair ends slightly curled inward to avoid outward flipping that clutters the silhouette. The biggest advantage of this hairstyle is that whether I turn sideways or lower my head to organize the clipboard, it maintains a thick and neat sense of layering, perfectly aligning with the character's steady tone.

What I loved most about this shoot was the combination of location and lighting. The site was an industrial corridor with horizontal blinds and metal partitions, exuding a subtle Cyberpunk style. Instead of conventional bright lighting, the photographer boldly used purple ambient lights with strong emotional rendering power as the main light source. This cool purple hitting the white coat and black long hair produced a wonderful chemical reaction, pulling the image into a quiet research domain with a strong sense of mystery. The horizontal blinds behind projected regular light and shadow lines, forming a geometric composition with me standing vertically, which immediately stretched the sense of space.

The biggest challenge during shooting was actually the unstable light. Because there was interference from natural light and other light sources in the scene, I needed to adjust my body orientation while having the photographer match the camera's white balance parameters to find the critical point where purple light and skin tone balanced best. However, this dynamic cooperation made me even more engaged; holding the clipboard, I frequently adjusted my posture, focusing on capturing my best angles. I believe excellent Cosplay photography isn't just about restoring costumes, but more importantly transmitting the character's essence through body movements. For example, my gesture of touching the side of my ear may seem like a casual routine gesture, but it actually expresses her focused state when thinking or listening to external information. Meanwhile, holding the clipboard firmly with the other hand emphasizes her methodical research habits.

Actually, before going on this location shoot, I did a lot of homework to deeply understand this Arknights character's background settings, including her intelligent, gentle, yet slightly mysterious traits. So I hoped her facial expression in the photos would sit somewhere between seriousness and relaxation. My lips are slightly closed, gaze calmly looking straight ahead—not overly sharp, but firm enough. Without relying on complex firearms or fantasy props, relying merely on a lab coat and a clipboard to let people recognize who this is at a single glance—this concise and pure mode of expression is a challenge I've really enjoyed recently.

Overall, this shooting experience was quite satisfying. Bringing that logic-minded, composed character image from 2D into a real-world setting is itself something full of accomplishment. This immersive identity shift allowed me to explore more possibilities in front of the lens. I look forward to wearing this Priestess cosplay outfit again next time to unlock more interesting light and shadow designs, letting the same styling convey different story vibes under different atmospheres.
