[Houraisan Kaguya cosplay] Eternal Shackles and the Sinner of Instant

When shooting this photoshoot themed around "The Sinner of Eternity and Instant," I actually thought a lot about the character's core essence.

The core part of this look is this set of Chinese-style fantasy attire with a distinct personal design style. The entire garment uses a soft gradient of light pink, sky blue, and white, resembling spring snowmelt intertwined with rosy clouds. A huge heart-shaped bow decoration is prominently placed at the chest, outlined with red overlock stitching, giving the gentle colors a striking visual focal point. Elegant gold-stamped jacquard patterns of bamboo leaves or botanical motifs are subtly visible on the surface of the jacket, fitting her aloof presence living deep in the bamboo forest. The cuffs are a design I particularly love: multiple layers of tulle ruffles stacked together, edged with delicate lace, where the wide cuffs create an extremely light and airy flow when raising a hand or drawing a bow.

As for the makeup, the crimson pupils of red eyes cosplay serve as the very soul of the entire look. Paired with a relatively clean face and natural lip color, it strongly highlights an otherworldly, non-human feel and mysterious atmosphere. The wig features a highly recognizable thick straight fringe with lively, slender side locks, combined with a large pink gradient tulle flower headpiece on the side of the head. This not only preserves the classic design impression from Touhou Project, but also enhances the visual tension in the actual shot.

Two very interesting props were used in this set. One is a wooden bow with a primitive texture; holding it, the tension of the bowstring always evokes a contradictory sense of being bound by "eternity" yet attempting to break free. The other prop is a hanging ornament constructed like withered branches, decorated with colorful glass beads in red, yellow, blue, and purple, as well as translucent little flowers, with a pink tulle bow and pearl tassels at the bottom. This prop is packed with detail in close-up shots, creating a pleasant contrast between delicate light refractions and rich accessory textures, especially against a pale and bright background.

A pure white background was chosen for the shooting environment to remove extraneous distractions. This approach has the advantage of focusing all visual attention entirely on the person, while the soft light of high-key portrait photography presents skin tones and outfit textures very naturally. During posing, I deliberately tried several different emotional states, such as an expressionless gaze, a solemn downcast look, and a languid mood while playing with hair strands. The neck choker and zipper details on the garment also made the overall structure more three-dimensional.

Regarding the theme "The Sinner of Eternity and Instant" and the shackles of eternity, I've always felt that Houraisan Kaguya cosplay carries many complex philosophical meanings. That feeling of seeming calm while bearing the heavy weight of endless time is what I hoped to convey in this photo set. Through relatively reserved expressions and gestures, I tried to match the loneliness brought by immortality rather than merely pursuing attractive looks. Completing this work with these thoughts allowed me to feel the joy of aligning with props and costumes during the shoot. I hope everyone can feel another side of this character's charm through the lens and enjoy this creative process of being immersed in character performance.
