[Sanae Kochiya cosplay] Wind Priestess with Starry sky elements Skirt: Indoor Mirror Selfies

This Sanae Kochiya look centers on the classic color palette of the Wind Priestess. For the wig, I chose long, straight pale-green hair, deliberately styled into twin braids with long, light-green translucent ribbons tied at the ends to give a lovely, natural drape when walking. The top pairs a sleeveless white shirt with dark blue ties at the collar beneath a wide-sleeved haori-style overshirt, featuring a white base with dark blue stripes, lace ruffles along the borders, and blue tassels at the cuffs. The bottom is a deep navy long pleated skirt printed with white stars, shooting star trails, and planetary motifs, evoking an expansive cosmic starry sky. The slim wooden wand prop in my hand features a small square blue plaque with white patterns at the top, and its hanging pale-green streamer echoes the wig seamlessly.

The tactile quality of this outfit comes from its rich layering; the combination of flowing sleeves and a long skirt hem visually elongates the silhouette before the camera. Because this was a solo shoot, I opted for indoor mirror selfies to fine-tune my posture and balance. The mirror's reflection is remarkably flattering for displaying the outfit's color blocking—the crisp combination of navy, white, and green feels refreshing without letting the frame appear dull. The tricky part of this styling is the extra-long skirt, which must be gently lifted while walking to avoid stepping on the hem while subtly revealing the white socks underneath. Taking mirror selfies also demands expression control, keeping focus on the phone screen while monitoring the overall composition in the reflection.

To showcase the garment's details, I smoothed out the skirt pleats before shooting so the star and planetary patterns would show clearly in natural light. The fabric has an ideal balance of firmness—neither too stiff to hide the pleat lines nor too soft to lose structure. The wooden plaque prop has a satisfying heft in hand, making it great for various poses. Overall, this ensemble is delicate and carries a mystical Wind Priestess aura. The Starry sky elements on the skirt are my favorite feature, looking vibrant and full of life. The wide sleeves are just the right length, capturing a wonderful sense of dynamic movement when waved. This shoot primarily documented the actual wear of the costume; the process was very smooth as I tried different turns and skirt-lifting poses before the mirror. The final selected photos accurately convey the clothing details, complete accessories, and overall temperament.
