Today, let's talk about this Priestess cosplay photo set. On the shooting day, the 25th, to be honest, the weather wasn't particularly cooperative. Diffused lighting indeed added a lot of difficulty to outdoor shooting, lacking the layering of light and shadow. What's even more heartbreaking is that only after finishing the shoot did I remember there was a major gaming convention happening that exact day, perfectly missing the chance to visit it—thinking about it now is still quite a pity. But since we went out for an outdoor shoot, we still had to try our best to take good photos and not fail to live up to this styling that took so long to prepare.

This outdoor shoot was chosen in a sea of pink muhly grass. The fluffy pink-purple background, paired with Priestess's white-dominated uniform with black accents, created an atmosphere that feels both sci-fi and dreamily detached. In terms of costume, to better fit Priestess's scholar temperament, I paid special attention to the clean-cut tailoring of this white shawl. The high-necked shirt plus bow tie, combined with the black obi at the waist, wonderfully presents the character's rigorous and rational silhouette. The wig was also meticulously styled, with blunt bangs and shoulder-length straight hair, trying my best to restore her aloof feel.

In terms of expression and action delivery, Priestess as a linguist has a personality foundation that is calm, rational, and carries a hint of mystery. Therefore, in front of the lens, I tried my best to quiet myself down and reduce overly exaggerated body language. As you can see in the photos, most actions are crossing arms, standing sideways, or single-handed hair-adjusting, and the gaze didn't deliberately cater to the lens, but rather presented a contemplative state. The small blue-and-white flower held in hand was also to prevent the image's colors from being too monotonous and to add a touch of liveliness.

Photographer Wen Nian gave me a lot of help in this shoot. In weather with relatively flat lighting and no strong contrast, it really tests the photographer's control over composition. We didn't deliberately shoot effects like strong backlighting or heavy light-and-shadow; instead, we utilized the extension feel of the flower sea, placing the character into the environment through eye-level and slightly low-angle camera positions. To maintain the breathing room of the frame, we often had to find good spots among the large patches of flowers and grass, trying to avoid trampling the plants while placing the character at an appropriate proportion. During post-processing color grading, we also intentionally preserved this soft tone, slightly lowering the saturation to make the overall picture look more comfortable, enduring, and not overly dazzling.

This set of photos can be considered my earnest interpretation of the character Priestess. Although there were minor twists and turns with the weather and missing the convention, the immersive shooting in the flower sea also made me experience the character's tranquil temperament. Outdoor shooting indeed requires considering many uncertain factors, but it is precisely this randomness that gives every press of the shutter a unique meaning. Looking forward to having better lighting next time to record different characters.
