[Tomimi cosplay] Arknights Serene Midnight: Awaiting the Midnight Sea

The concept for this photoshoot was "Serene Midnight." To evoke the impression of waiting for a midnight sea breeze, we poured considerable thought into building the indoor scenic set. Although there were no real ocean waves in the background, combining a green drapery curtain with a white bathtub, dark hardwood flooring, and gradient blue-and-white flowing chiffon successfully conjured the romantic mood of a nocturnal seashore. This time, I cosplayed Tomimi from Arknights; the overall ensemble is packed with an incredible array of intricate details.

For hair and headdress styling, I wore a pure-white long wig crowned with a floral wreath intertwining white and blue blossoms, accented with silver star-shaped hairpins, flanked by pointed elf ear prosthetics. Securing all these accessories took substantial time, particularly the elf ears: they had to hug the skull's contours snugly, with edges blended seamlessly using liquid foundation and concealer so they appeared organic and flawless before the lens. On the makeup front, the eyes featured a broad wash of blended pink-toned shadow paired with pale-toned contact lenses, while the lip shade and nail polish were matched in harmony to reflect her serene, faintly mysterious grace.

The wardrobe consists of a white high-neck sleeveless midriff-baring cropped top paired with ruffled flutter shorts, anchored by a prominent blue diamond emblem on the chest. The tailored garment creates a form-fitting silhouette; to ensure clean, fluid waist and abdominal lines on camera, I had to keep my core engaged and stomach pulled in constantly. In terms of accessories, the lace arm warmers, the floral thigh garters adorned with blue blossoms, and the white ribbon cords wrapping around my calves all required meticulous smoothing. What proved most challenging was the black tail prop: to ensure it held a natural curved arch in both seated and reclining poses, I experimented with multiple mounting techniques so it wouldn't lose balance during movement. The blue beaded bracelets and lace wrist cuffs also served as delicate accents, elevating the refined tactile detail in close-up shots.

The studio floor was relatively hard, so capturing aesthetic seated and lying postures meant gradually shifting my center of gravity while keeping my muscles as relaxed as possible. For instance, the posture sitting along the rim of the bathtub in three-quarter profile with crossed legs required firm leg tension to sustain balance, while constantly monitoring whether the top or shorts risked accidental exposure, and making sure the tail behind me wasn't squashed out of shape. In the prone stomach-lying shot—posing with both hands beside my cheeks while bending and raising both legs behind me—it severely tested the flexibility of my lower back, requiring a breather every few minutes. To give the sheer chiffon a dynamic fluttering motion, an assistant stood off-camera fanning gentle breezes, while I held my facial expression steady to channel the relaxed, languid ease of a tranquil midnight. The overall lighting utilized a cool-toned softbox, interacting with potted greenery and mirrors to weave a clean, luminous visual atmosphere.

Cosplaying Tomimi this time involved quite a tedious prep phase from makeup to props, but seeing the final images faithfully bring that envisioned world to life made every ounce of preparation entirely worthwhile.
