For this Chisa swimsuit Anime cosplay shoot, we chose an indoor pool set. To capture that cool, refreshing summer vibe, we specifically picked an area featuring blue-and-white mosaic tiles and wood-grain flooring. The pink-and-white gingham swimsuit with ruffled accents leans heavily into a sweet aesthetic. To match this look, I prepared a long, straight black wig with blunt bangs, trimmed the sideburns, wore red contacts, used reddish-brown eyeshadow to echo the eye color, and kept the blush and lip gloss sheer and dewy.
For props, I brought a yellow inflatable swim ring and a pink-and-blue plastic water gun. We began with standing poses holding the swim ring; because of its bulky size, the angle had to be constantly fine-tuned so it wouldn't obscure my face while still showing off the full construction of the swimsuit. The shot sitting by the poolside with legs crossed is my personal favorite for highlighting leg lines, giving the frame a grounded, stable visual center. The pool edge was quite slippery during the shoot, so sitting down and standing up required extra caution to balance my weight. The half-crouching pose aiming the water gun was a bit more demanding, requiring one-legged balance and stability while managing my facial expression to strike a playful yet spunky attitude. Finally, for the shots sitting directly inside the swim ring, the uneven weight distribution made it wobble easily, requiring serious core engagement to sit steady.
The pink bows and white crisscross straps on the swimsuit needed careful positioning before each take, as any slight movement would knock them askew and disrupt the overall look. The water gun's center of gravity leaned forward, making my wrist sore after holding it for a while, so I had to adjust my grip between shots. On set, we used a spray bottle to capture falling water droplets, making the splashes look organic. Communicating with the photographer was also vital—discussing how to leverage reflections off the wet poolside and how to use the yellow swim ring as a foreground element to enrich frame depth. While the final photos look effortless, capturing that perfect kinetic instant required multiple takes. Given the high humidity around the pool, frequent touch-ups on hair and makeup were necessary. Overall, the swimsuit fabric showed gorgeous texture under the studio lights, though like most swimwear, its snug fit limited the range of motion, meaning dynamic poses relied heavily on micro-shifting my balance. The blue tiles by the pool created a vivid contrast against the pink swimsuit, resulting in a great hit rate of great shots.
