The venue chosen for this Marin Kitagawa cosplay (Marin Kitagawa cosplay) featuring a Swimsuit cosplay (Swimsuit cosplay) concept was the 28-Degree Living Water Pavilion. Today's ambient air and water temperatures were delightfully comfortable, making it the ideal setting for a Summer pool photo shoot (Summer pool photo shoot).
For the wig, I selected a blonde style featuring soft pink gradient tips, retaining straight blunt bangs across the forehead. To match the character's vibrant 2D aesthetic, eye makeup paired pink contact lenses with matching eyeshadow, a noticeable flush of blush across the cheeks, and dewy pink lip gloss. A flower hair ornament with white petals and a yellow center was pinned to the side of the hair, with pink-rimmed sunglasses resting atop the crown. For the top, I wore a lightweight, semi-sheer white long-sleeved cover-up that clung gently once submerged, tied in a knot at the hem to highlight the waistline. Underneath was a black string bikini, paired with blue denim shorts accented with white lace along the hems and finished with black waist drawstrings.
The sunlight was brilliantly radiant during the shoot; the clear azure sky created a wonderful contrast against the modern glass curtain-wall buildings in the background. In the distance, hand-painted pink hot-air balloons and pink parasols added playful splashes of color across the frame. Sitting along the pink-tiled edge of the pool, I tried a sideways over-the-shoulder gaze to showcase my waist, shoulders, and neckline. Once in the water, I played around holding the Little yellow duck prop (Little yellow duck prop), splashing water with my hands. Capturing these split-second splashes required a high shutter speed on the camera while opening up the aperture to softly blur the background. To preserve the crisp, glistening texture of the water droplets, lighting angle was paramount; side-backlighting allowed the spray to appear crystalline and luminous. Because it was an outdoor pool under direct, high-contrast sunlight, I utilized building shadows and adjusted camera angles to prevent facial blowout while preserving the organic texture of my skin and wardrobe.
Sitting on the white drainage grates, I naturally extended my legs, wearing floral-accented green lace-up sandals while lightly touching my sunglasses with one hand. This ensemble is tailor-made for a poolside setting—radiating the character's effervescent charm while ensuring comfort under outdoor conditions. For water-level captures, tracking fabric behavior was essential; sheer materials become slightly more transparent when wet, subtly revealing the dark inner bikini, which demanded delicate lighting control to retain a crisp, clean aesthetic. The overall palette revolved around soft pink, white, and refreshing blue, delivering a breezy, uplifting mood. Dynamic caustic light ripples reflected off the pool surface onto my skin, adding gorgeous layered dimension to the shots. The entire session progressed smoothly with cooperating water temperatures and sunlight, and the finished color grading captured the quintessential summer atmosphere. The set coordination and lighting resonated in harmony, bringing the world of My Dress-Up Darling to life exactly as envisioned (My Dress-Up Darling & Swimsuit cosplay).
