To capture Chisa's maid styling from Wuthering Waves properly this time, a lot of thought went into prop preparation. The character Chisa is quite interesting—she can clearly see the weaknesses of all things, yet cannot untangle the ties between people; this sense of contrast really attracts me. Therefore, we set the shooting theme to afternoon tea, wanting to capture this slightly mysterious everyday vibe through the atmosphere of a vintage study.
To recreate the character, the costume chose a classic brown-toned maid outfit paired with a white apron, with the red straps and bell on the chest being essential details in place. The biggest highlight is actually those small accessories, like the capybara brooch on the chest and the small capybara plush toy hanging beside the skirt hem, adding plenty of cuteness to the overall styling, and seeing them during the shoot instantly lifts my mood.
The scene was chosen in a wooden study stacked with old books. To better present this vintage feel, I prepared a desk lamp with a lace lampshade, a vintage crank telephone, and a tea cup with gold rims. The composition of photo 7, standing on a wooden ladder holding a feather duster, is my absolute favorite. That day, sunlight happened to stream through the louvre shutters, casting down through the shutter gaps onto my body, forming strips of light and shadow—it was exceptionally gorgeous. We adjusted for quite a while to wait for this lighting angle. The wide-angle lens FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II played a huge role here; when shooting downward while standing on the ladder, it not only captured the depth of the bookshelves and the ladder, but also naturally incorporated the White stockings and the overall maid styling completely into the frame. The edge stretching effect of the wide-angle lens makes the leg lines look more slender while maintaining the frame's perspective.
For the shots in front of the desk, I experimented with different postures. When holding the vintage phone, I needed to match my gaze to express a feeling of listening or contemplation; when holding the teacup, I needed to display the maid's quiet elegance. In terms of lighting, besides the louvre shutter stripe light, indoor warm fill light was also very important, making the skin texture look more delicate. I tried to stay as relaxed as possible during the shoot, because maid outfits look unnatural if movements are too stiff, and leaning the body's center of gravity against the desk or ladder made the body language look softer.
The overall color tone of this photo set leans warm, perfectly fitting the lazy atmosphere of afternoon tea. Chisa's red circle lenses stand out brilliantly in the warm brown environment, serving as the finishing touch. During the shooting process, we continuously fine-tuned prop positions and light reflections, striving to present an effect that is both everyday and imbued with 2D anime texture. This integration from costume coordination to scene lighting and shadows also gave me a deeper understanding of the character herself; in fact, the difficult puzzles in this cup of afternoon tea slowly unraveled amidst these meticulously arranged details.
