[Leizi the Thunderbringer cosplay] Thunder Caster Aura at Hypergryph Carnival

The moment the shutter clicked on the floor of Hypergryph Carnival, this look for Leizi the Thunderbringer cosplay was officially captured.

For this Leizi the Thunderbringer challenge, the visual color palette relies on black, red, gold, and broad accents of bright yellow, giving a striking high-contrast feel. Starting with the wig, I picked a vibrant, bright yellow-blonde wig; to capture that flowing yet crisp texture, the top bun and long side locks were divided with care, with neatly thinned bangs to avoid a heavy look. Eye makeup was the highlight of this face chart: to better express her Arknights traits, I selected light purple contacts paired with dense lower lashes and subtly flicked winged eyeliner. This gave her gaze an immersive anime depth without appearing overly harsh, bringing her closer to the thunder caster fans know.

The piece that took the most effort was actually the headpiece. Black thorn branches shaped like deadwood, deep red velvet roses, a metallic skeleton structure, and antler-like horns formed a full collision of gothic and ornate anime aesthetics. Although the headpiece was bulky, considerable effort went into internal weight reduction so it wouldn't feel cumbersome, while ensuring structural durability so it wouldn't tilt while navigating crowds during Anime convention cosplay photography.

The clothing section continued the character's firm, crisp edge. The jacket was crafted from black PU leather with a subtle glossy sheen; under venue hall lighting at Hypergryph Carnival, this material reflected bright highlights that defined a sharp silhouette. Gold metal buttons and lapel piping were the soul of this Cosplay outfit, instantly maxing out its grandeur. The red knit base layer boasted high color saturation, creating a crisp contrast against the white ruffled neck scarf at the chest to concentrate visual focus. Around the waist, a vintage brown-black leather belt with a metallic buckle and dangling chains broke up upper and lower body proportions neatly. Elf ears props were glued securely, complementing the makeup to sharpen facial features.

Lighting on-site at the convention was somewhat unpredictable; overhead hall lighting was bright, so finding optimal highlights and shadows required adjusting angles manually. Among the three photos selected, the first is a close-up highlighting facial expressions and wig styling; the head-turn angle in the second captures the dimensional spatial presence of the headpiece; the third half-body shot uses centered, complete framing, preserving visual layers between the red-black inner attire and jacket without awkward crop lines, displaying all details cleanly.

Executing a heavily detailed cosplay like this really tests equipment comfort and wearing techniques—wearing a heavy headpiece plus wig all day got sweltering. However, meeting fellow Arknights fans and photographers at the venue was wonderful; the supportive atmosphere was great. Being able to fully showcase this Leizi the Thunderbringer cosplay at a massive event like Hypergryph Carnival fulfilled my pre-convention wish. The combination of black, red, gold, and deadwood roses exerted tremendous tension both on-site and through the lens, and I'm deeply satisfied with the physical texture achieved by the hair, makeup, and prop crafting.
