The stage lighting and shadows of Genshin Impact Fes Day 2 haven't fully faded from my mind yet, but the exhaustion from departing Hangzhou at 4 AM is definitely real. To make it to this event, I spent the previous night repeatedly checking all props and wigs, terrified of leaving out any details. The streets of Hangzhou were still quiet in the predawn hours, and while putting on my makeup, I was so sleepy I could barely keep my eyes open. When I finished my first layer of base and eye makeup, probably due to the extremely dim lighting and stiff hand movements, the effect in the mirror carried a distinctly cold, dark tone—what I jokingly call "too gloomy." This chilly vibe largely stemmed from an unnatural transition in the chin shading, making my overall facial contours look sharper than usual and giving off an unintended "stay away" aura.

Fortunately, post-processing can truly work miracles. This photo handled by the master retoucher not only preserved the cool vibe of my "underworld" makeup style but also brightened the highlights and adjusted skin tones, making the whole face look clean, sharp, and imbued with a certain pride matching this outfit.

Costume-wise, this ensemble features a wealth of intricate details. The black-and-white checkered bow atop my head is tied with a light golden metal buckle, echoing the light green checkered patterns on the edges of the short jacket. The white short standing-collar jacket raises the waistline, and the exposed midriff section matches the pleated skirt on the lower half. The white double-row-hole leather belt around the waist of the pleated skirt adds a nice texture, while the most eye-catching element is the deep blue large bow tied at the side of the hip, adorned with light pinkish-white sakura prints, adding a playful and breezy touch to the predominantly white-and-green cool-toned attire. Black half-finger gloves not only make hand movements sharper but also nicely mimic the capable feel from the game. However, these props require extra care during transit to avoid deformation.

As for the wig, it features a light golden linen hue with bangs that completely cover the original eyebrow-to-eye distance upon wearing. Paired with bright green contact lenses, it gives the gaze more piercing impact. The on-site candid shots are quite natural, avoiding overly rigid poses; with hands slightly curved and resting in front of the chest, it's a posture carrying a hint of wariness yet cuteness.

Traveling from Hangzhou to Shanghai, combined with early morning makeup and rushing to the venue, is physically exhausting. Arriving at the Genshin Impact Fes site, despite thorough preparation, my lower back and legs felt quite sore after standing for hours—especially wearing this slightly loose yet tightly belted skirt, where the center of gravity rests on the upper body, requiring constant posture adjustments.

Speaking of photo editing, after this photo came out, many friends DMed me asking if I did that cool makeup look on purpose. Honestly, it was just a fumble from a sleepy morning brain, but that very mistake miraculously created a different kind of atmospheric vibe, which is pretty magical. The meaning of an exhibition isn't just about giving physical form to a favorite character, but also meeting fellow fans in this space to photograph and chat. Compared to meticulously staged studio shoots, these on-site candids carry more vitality and life.

Many behind-the-scenes moments hide behind those glamorous photos. For instance, convention lighting tests makeup to the extreme, especially the highlights on the forehead and bridge of the nose. Without precise control, flash photography can make you look greasy. Fortunately, although the shading was laid on heavy, the highlights were managed decently. Paired with a semi-matte base makeup and lipstick, my facial dimensions stayed crisp under the convention's intense lights. Additionally, the checkered patchwork on the skirt hem creates great dimension with even a slight dynamic movement. While cosplaying is undoubtedly tiring, every single moment standing in front of the lens transforms all fatigue into a surge of mental excitement.

This entire experience was tightly packed from start to finish. The 4-hour alarm clock still feels ringing in my ears, but seeing everyone's feedback and these finished photos makes it all feel worthwhile. Anime convention cosplay is not merely throwing on clothes to take a stroll; it's a tribute and re-interpretation of character settings, as well as a shared language among players and enthusiasts. Genshin Impact Fes provided a wonderful offline communication platform with a very inclusive atmosphere. Although today's schedule was a rush, the journey from Hangzhou to Shanghai and this brief stay in a space built by passion made all the hassle deeply meaningful.
