Today I cosplayed Vodyanitsa from Genshin Impact on site at Day 2 of REDLAND Convention 2026. For this styling, I spent a very long time trimming and setting the wig beforehand. This emerald green wig is intensely saturated and stands out brilliantly under the convention lights. Because wigs frizz easily, I made sure to bring wig conditioning spray and a wide-tooth comb to smooth it out whenever resting. For makeup, I focused on eye details this time—blue contact lenses paired with pink-toned eyeshadow and distinct lower lashes enlarged the eyes while staying true to 2D anime character proportions. For foundation, I chose a long-wearing formula; after walking and shooting all day, makeup tends to melt. A glossy lip lacquer added fresh, radiant vitality to the lips. In terms of wardrobe, this outfit features extensive lace and pleating, with a high lace-trimmed collar, alongside ruffles on the skirt and sleeves. Since it snags easily, I moved with great care when changing and walking. The blue-green accessories and gemstone necklace served as subtle touches to faithfully recreate the character design. In hand, I held two acrylic standees as photo props—one with a golden-brown floral border, and another in silver-white with holographic effects—enriching composition during shooting.
Roaming the halls with Odette, Day 2 was still packed with huge crowds. We scouted spots with relatively even illumination. Convention lights often act as harsh overhead downlights, so I slightly tilted my chin up or looked toward side lighting to define facial contours. While walking around, fellow fans frequently recognized the character, enthusiastically asking for photos and selfies. Although walking in this outfit is tiring, connecting with so many Genshin Impact players made it completely worthwhile. For cosplay, I always believe in balancing fidelity with comfort: regarding shoes, while specific styles are chosen for the role, I always prepare comfortable slip-ons for breaks. My touch-up pouch contained blotting sheets, setting powder, lipstick, and a wig comb to stay camera-ready. The venue setup at REDLAND was fun with plenty of photo spots. Interacting with Odette was a blast; helping each other adjust garments and wigs created a wonderful sense of camaraderie. When shooting this set, I tried various angles before settling on this smiling close-up holding the props—the darker background set off the colors of the outfit and wig nicely.
Every cosplay—from makeup trials and wig cuts to the final photos—is a process of continuous refinement. Bringing a beloved character to life and meeting like-minded fans is what makes conventions so appealing. I hope this experience at REDLAND Convention 2026 stays memorable, and I look forward to delivering more high-fidelity works. Regarding styling details, the green wig showed a slight color shift under daylight, but indoors under venue lighting, it closely matched the character's exact shade. To keep the bangs curved without blocking my vision, I applied plenty of hairspray and flat iron work. For regular cosplayers, the wig is like a second face, making maintenance an essential skill. The blue contact lenses had a moderate diameter and remained comfortable without feeling dry after a whole day. When applying makeup, I placed a touch of shimmer beneath the eyes to echo the glitter on the headpiece. The high collar is gorgeous, though slightly warm for summer, but thankfully the venue's air conditioning was strong. Acrylic props reflect light easily, so adjusting angles to evade direct glare was necessary. Roaming with Odette—whose styling was equally exquisite—we snapped lots of photos together and exchanged tips on touch-ups and wig care in the rest lounge. The joy of a convention lies not just in getting great shots, but in connecting with the community. Day 2 was deeply fulfilling: moving and shooting from morning entrance to afternoon departure left me physically tired, but seeing satisfying photos in the camera made every effort worthwhile. That's all for today's recap of my REDLAND convention diary.
