This time at the Yongchuan Comic Convention, I brought the cosplay of Xiao Qiao Cosplay in her Green Snake skin from Honor of Kings. The layering of this outfit is exceptionally rich, primarily crafted from sheer turquoise and teal chiffon, with the borders outlined in gleaming gold trim. The sculptural golden coiled ornamentation at the chest, paired with a mandarin high collar, dialed Xiao Qiao's blend of classical elegance and playful vivacity straight to the max. To capture the character's lively spirit, I dedicated great effort to the accessories: the white floral headpieces and dangling silver hairpin tassels echoed each other harmoniously, while the translucent green beaded ornament on the chest suspended a fluffy white pom-pom that swayed vividly with every movement. The handheld circular round fan was also custom-made—featuring white floral motifs over a green ground, matching the ensemble's palette seamlessly.
To showcase this costume at its very best, we shot beneath the glass dome of the shopping mall atrium. The lighting here was wonderfully clear and luminous, and the glossy floor tiles cast soft reflections, adding immense visual transparency to the frame. Because the skirt features an asymmetrical mini-skirt cut adorned with multiple long white flowing ribbons and gold-trimmed tails, I choreographed expansive and dynamic poses. For instance, raising the round fan mid-spin or lightly lifting the skirt hem in a gentle hop utilized the flaring ribbons and fluttering chiffon skirt to cultivate an ethereal lightness. The detached, oversized white flared sleeves cascaded with graceful fabric folds as I moved, which, paired with the golden armbands, created rich visual depth.
For the Green Snake persona, the facial expression and demeanor require balancing an airy grace with a touch of mischievous charm. Because the tailoring is light and unencumbered by heavy cloaks or armor, my state before the camera needed to remain relaxed, with focused yet crystal-clear eyes. During the shoot at the convention, the surrounding environment was naturally bustling, but fortunately the glass dome provided exquisite ambient daylight. Combined with the photographer's impeccable timing for candid captures, the final results turned out deeply satisfying. The fabric sheen reflected subtle gradient shifts between verdant green and lake blue under light; very little post-processing color grading was necessary, as the straight-out-of-camera tones were already exceptionally pleasing.
Looking back on the shoot, my deepest realization was that garment details define the ceiling of visual impact. From wig styling and prop texture down to every gold-embroidered edge, only when all physical elements are thoroughly prepared can one embody the character with true confidence before the lens. This photoshoot also gave me fresh insights into physical expression for nimble, lightweight characters—teaching me how to leverage fabric textures in harmony with the camera's shutter rhythm. I sincerely hope this photo set conveys the unique, enchanting charm of Xiao Qiao's Green Snake cosplay.
