Extensive thought went into the textile selection for this Seven Blossoms look. The main pink fabric features a light, airy chiffon infused with subtle shimmer; to ensure it resisted excessive wrinkling through an entire day on the convention floor, the lining was tailored from a skin-friendly satin that offers gentle structural support. The generous negative space across the neckline and shoulders is framed by delicate pearl chains and golden armlets, lending a graceful, flowing drape with every movement. The hair ornaments formed the heaviest component of the entire outfit: an openwork golden crown was secured onto an updo crafted from real hair, flanked by cascading metal tassels accented with rubies and sapphires that clinked softly whenever I turned my head.
For cosmetics, to honor the agile elegance of the Seven Blossoms sect, the eye makeup abandoned heavy earthy tones in favor of generous pink blending, elongated and deepened at the outer corners. The floral forehead huadian harmonized with bridge highlights, working alongside light-colored contact lenses to give the eyes a crystalline sparkle. The foundation was kept strictly matte to prevent unflattering shine beneath the venue's intense overhead strobes. Because wearing intricate wigs and heavy headpieces was required, the hairline and temples had to be locked down with ample hairspray, leaving delicate wisps by the ears to soften facial contours.
During the shoot, I designed several poses to highlight the costume's nuances. The glancing-back posture in Photo 1 relied on synchronizing the twist of the waist with an elongated neck, paired with slightly bent wrists and relaxed fingers to reveal the dimensional texture of the robes in motion. In Photo 2, using a semi-translucent white folding fan as a foreground element partially obscured my face and shoulders, adding layered depth while easing the tension of gazing directly into the lens. The ribs of the folding fan are wooden, so keeping my fingers loose and graceful while gripping it was essential.
The energy at the JX3 17th Anniversary event was wonderfully vibrant, though the lighting inside the venue was complex with shifting color temperatures. To capture the true pink hue of the garment, I had the photographer steer clear of direct warm yellow lighting, choosing instead the softer ambient zones of the Anime Convention Tour Season parade areas. Interacting with fellow fans during this cosplay experience was deeply rewarding, with everyone sharing practical tips on garment tailoring and prop maintenance. Commemorating this milestone at the 17th anniversary was an unforgettable journey; though the outfit was intricate and demanding to wear, the final visual presentation made every bit of preparation entirely worthwhile.
