This time, I completed the photoshoot for Formidable's bunny girl outfit from Azur Lane at the Beyond Allegro Photography Studio. The moment I changed into this attire, I gained a brand new feeling about the character's body dynamics.
The most eye-catching part of this look is undoubtedly the pair of huge black-and-white color-blocked bunny ears on the head. The plush texture is very fluffy, combined with the headband for fastening and the layered large black bow on the side, giving the entire head a substantial visual weight. To avoid looking top-heavy, I intentionally emphasized red pupils and highlights in the makeup, pairing them with very light golden long straight hair and straight bangs, allowing the face and headpiece to reach a relatively balanced visual focus. The main body of the costume is an off-the-shoulder design blending white gauze and lace, with extensive ruffles on the shoulders and sleeves, making it look quite lightweight. The black circular lace arm accessory on the arm is a nice accent, breaking up the monotony of all-white.
When shooting the first photo, I needed to turn sideways to hug that round yellow plush doll, while biting down on the black strap connected to the bow with my mouth. Biting the strap required applying force with the corners of my mouth, yet my gaze had to remain relaxed and focused—this sense of contradiction really tested micro-expression control. Fortunately, the lighting in the photography studio came with a soft-light effect, making the high-key texture of the entire frame stand out.
Personally, I feel the second image, which is the frame looking back over the shoulder, highlights the essence of this bunny girl outfit even better. The white ruffled off-the-shoulder design extensively displays the skin lines of the shoulder blades and back, while the black-grey fabric around the waist and hips features white flower ties. Combined with the artificial smoke blown in front of the lens, it both exhibits exquisite decoration and elongates the overall body proportions. Although the character Formidable usually gives off an air of elegance mixed with a bit of tsundere in the game, after putting on the bunny girl outfit, this elegance undoubtedly gains a few extra touches of mature sexiness.
The background of the shoot selected a retro European style, with wrought-iron window panes, white curtains, and blurred white floral plants in the foreground, filling the picture with a dreamy and melancholic temperament. For lighting, side backlighting was adopted, where high-key exposure made the hair strands more translucent. The cooperation with the photographer was also seamless; he had me try different angles of body curves, requiring both the tension of a bunny girl outfit and the original elegance of the character.
Throughout the entire shoot, whether it was makeup, styling, or lighting coordination, it made me feel that this bunny girl Formidable possessed her own unique aura. She isn't like a purely cute character, but rather possesses a subtle touch of mature charm. The studio arrangement was also very fitting for the theme; from the sitting pose in Photo 1 to the looking-back stance in Photo 2, every frozen moment felt quite story-driven.
