At the Day 2 Anime convention venue of the Winter Festival, I cosplayed my beloved Honkai Impact 3rd character, Seele Vollerei.
To prepare for this cosplay, a lot of thought went into the wig, especially the ahoge on top that required shaping and fixation, as well as the matching blue butterfly hair accessory on the side. I selected bright blue colored contacts, which, paired with the eye makeup, perfectly brought out the character's doll-like gaze. The outfit consists of a white shirt and a blue vest; the bow tie at the neckline needed to be tied neatly, and the red crest on the chest was hand-painted with pigment to give it a more defined texture. The giant blue butterfly prop used for the shoot was very lightweight and easy to hold without tiring, and its vibrant color made it an eye-catching focal point in the photos.
The Winter Festival venue was quite large and crowded, so we found a relatively open spot. Carrying the butterfly prop, I wanted to experiment with a more atmospheric visual style. In the photos, I used the butterfly to cover my mouth and nose while keeping my eyes visible, or rested my chin on one hand like in the final shot, gazing directly into the lens. The photographer continually emphasized maintaining clarity in my eyes to convey an ethereal aura. The butterfly, the blue-and-white outfit, and the blue eyes together constituted the most crucial visual elements of the frame.
The Anime convention was full of energy, and passing cosplayers and photographers greeted one another. Walking through the venue in this outfit truly let me feel the inherent charm of the character. Seele is closely tied to the butterfly motif, with both props and costume palettes revolving around this theme, so I paid special attention to showcasing the butterfly details this time. In post-processing, I adjusted the color tones to make the skin look fair and translucent while retaining the fabric texture and the authentic convention atmosphere. Being appreciated by friends and photographers around was definitely a joyful experience. Although cosplaying is quite demanding—waking up early for hair and makeup, adjusting wig bangs, and dealing with shifting venue lighting—seeing the final captured moments made all the preparation worthwhile. The above is the complete experience of doing this Seele cosplay from Honkai Impact 3rd at Winter Festival Day 2.
