For this spring outing-themed Self-coordinated kimono of Vulpisfoglia, let's talk about the behind-the-scenes today. Because people constantly joked about 'a grandpa wearing his son's clothes,' I naturally embraced this premise, aiming for an endearing gap moe. The fabric was carefully selected in pink, designed with a crossover collar that flatters the jawline and face shape wonderfully. The custom prints on the fabric were crafted in meticulous detail; the red flowers and blue bird patterns displayed rich texture under natural light.
The focal point of this styling was the wig and ears. When trimming the straight golden-yellow hair, I deliberately left the sideburns longer to nicely frame the jawline. The looped bun coiled on top of the head also took considerable effort, fixed with hairspray for quite a while. For the beast ears, I picked the fluffiest Fox ears; white fluff accented with black tips, slightly angled when worn to give them a livelier dynamic.
In terms of makeup, to capture that 2D feel, the eyeliner was deliberately thickened and winged outward. Paired with brownish-gold colored contacts, my gaze looked much deeper and more expressive. Since this was shot inside a car, the lighting primarily came from natural light filtering through car windows—this diffused illumination is exceptionally flattering for capturing facial expressions and garment details.
The hardest part of creating this Self-coordinated kimono was mastering the overall proportions. At first, the skirt length felt off, and it was altered twice before achieving the most visually flattering length. During the shoot, I specifically sought a spring outing vibe, which felt very fitting for this soft pink ensemble. As part of the Arknights creator incentive program, this work marks a fresh attempt to modify traditional Japanese elements into something more casual and wearable for everyday outings.
